RE: Ferrari California: Generation Game
Discussion
Shame that a rebody is used as the original example, but ho hum.
Anyway, never really minded the California. I preferred the T as the lines were a little nicer, but as others say, this seems like a Ferrari you can actually use without the depreciation anxiety of others in the range. It’s gonna drop in value like a normal car, so just use the thing, eh?!
Although I must say, I think the Portofino is a fantastic looking thing. Really looking forward to seeing that one in the flesh.

For the same sort of money, or less, I would rather have a 550 or 575
£80k - https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
Looks really nice and has a V12
For comparison, this is the Portofino, which looks much better than its predecessor imo:

Fair enough, some people want an open top:£65k - https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
The newer 430 Spider seems to be the same range as the Cali, £75k upwards.

Poor man's ugly Ferrari. Still way out of my price range
I totally agree. Nothing says, “I’m poor” like a £180k Ferrari on your drive. For the poster above who shared the pic or the Portofino, it looks even better in a gunmetal colour:

I would have one if I won the Euromillions. There's more "Exotic" metal, more tuned for performance, that have more "soul" - but if you want to drive a supercar everyday, there's not many that can compare - 2+2, better tuned suspension for the average road, a bit of a boot, metal top and seriously quick. Leave the other stuff for the weekend!
Can understand people's opinions above, and have no issue with those. I had a F430 and changed to a California. F430 was a brilliant car, of that there is no question. Thing is for me, with a wife and 2 kids, it was a little selfish. However the Cali works for me in so many ways - 4 seats (well nearly!) and a hardtop convertible. It certainly isn't slow, and handles more than well enough for my ability. Oh - and it puts a huge smile on my face every time. Each to their own, but for me, this works well.

That’s how I see it. It’s not the prettiest car but then that isn’t unique among modern Ferrari’s. But what it is is a cheap Ferrari that you can just use as a family car and consume it into the ground. No need to ever worry about whether using it is damaging it’s value you just stick your kids in the back and use it till it falls apart. When it’s sunny you can drop the roof, when it’s raining you’ve got all the safety gizmos. You’ve got a boot for the shopping. They have a lovely V8 and drive more than well enough that when you haven’t got the family you can have some fun. It might not be a sleek, elegant piece of art that you can place in your glass sided garage and take pleasure from looking at. It’s a frumpy little thing that invites you to use it all day every day.
