The mountune kit is £699 including vat. Is it worth it ?
IMO yes. Noticeably more responsive with less turbo lag. Even better with the Mountune induction hose for added turbo/induction noise.

I wouldn't go back to standard now. Just remember though some insurance companies won't cover these mods as I found out.

Next mod on the list is the Exhaust..

Just be aware a general recall has been issued on Jan 8 for Fiesta ST built between 2010-2014 which I think relates to the 1.6 Ecoboost, regarding overheating, coolant loss and fire risk. Details on the DVLA website for recalls. Also concerns Kuga and Focus so I expect it is either/or the 150 and 180bhp models.
How do recalls work? My son has one of these, it was built in 2014. No letter from Ford/government or whoever would notify us and when we put the VIN in online it doesn't flag up any recall. So is it only some STs?

Although it's not a Fiesta ST, it's similar, a Mk 3 Focus with almost the same engine, the 182 Ecoboost 1.6L. I too have the Door seals issue!

Was talking to guy at work today (about mine being nicked) - he had one until 9 months ago and traded up to a BMW M135 - largely regretting it because although the BMW is faster it's not as much fun
He's thinking about trading back down - after a chat he's going to wait and try the 3 cyl new ST, the Ibiza Cupra and the new SSS 1.4turbo this summer and then decide what to do

Okay 3 in 4 days, so approx 1 a day if you include the ones not shared on facebook.

There's no new Ibiza Cupra being released for the newest shape, unless he mean that last one that came out?

I will agree that the B-segment hot-hatches are probably some of the best. Great size, chuckable, decent power and, most importantly, fun.

If the car is in warranty and you wish to preserve it, absolutely it is. If not and it's out of warranty, it can look a tad expensive.

It's a proper tried and tested tune, so it's very good, but you can probably get better gains elsewhere or at least similar for less.

There's no doubt there. They are clearly being sought after to be pinched as it appear to be not very difficult to do so.

However, all i'm getting at is that it'll always look worse than it its on those pages, when most of them that are being stolen are being placed on a big list for everyone to see.

I'd personally be more worried about owning a Golf R than a Fiesta ST.

I had an ST now have a Golf R, are they out to get me?!?

Just kidding, I'm with you, those pages will show a skewed ratio/unbalanced numbers on how many are actually going. It looks like a lot, but there are a lot of ST's in the UK and a lot of people who have them would be on to a group like that in seconds as soon as it goes. They aren't hard to steal if you know what you're doing but then what car is?

Hilariously I got pulled over and boxed in by the Police a couple of weeks ago when driving some friends home in the Golf. One had just been stolen in the area and fitted my car's description. They were very insistent I give them my name first. At least I know they're not just letting them go easily as people seem to think. Though I can't say I wasn't a little bit worried at what the hell I'd done wrong...

It's well known that they're targeting by thieves It's not exactly news and this has been going on for some time now. I'll be honest and say, if i really wanted either of those two cars, and i can see that being the case one day as they're both cracking hatches, then i'd just buy them.

I'm not saying i wouldn't be completely worry free, but there's no guarantee of them being pinched, as i'm sure many out there haven't been stolen or attempted to be. It's a gamble but, then again, isn't pretty much everything in life?

That was my thinking when I went from the ST to the R, if it's a risk it's a risk. Though I do make sure my keys are kept in the bedroom overnight with the R and it doesn't have keyless entry. I think living on a terraced street with no driveway may help to fool those looking to find where the keys are too as it's rarely outside my own house.

Honestly, if they want it they'll have it, it's the risk of having something nice I guess.

Yeah, you can't live your life in complete fear, otherwise you'd never do anything!

I live in a flat and i reckon that's a similar scenario, like being in a terraced house, where any potential thieves wouldn't know which number the car belonged to.

I wouldn't want that anyway, so if they're gonna do it, i'd rather it be taken without much fuss or any threat of danger/conflict. I suppose that's what insurance is there for. Still an absolute ball-ache though!

And that explains why insurance in the midlands on the car is 4 times what i pay now and im hardly in a fancy area?

And also explains why greenlight insurance refuse to touch a fiesta st unless a disklok is used at all times?

The Focus ST3 we have is absolutely dire on mpg. Worse than my V8 M3. I think it's currently on 21mpg at the moment. It gets around 30mpg at 70mph.

What's the real life mpg like on these cars? Could they be used as a daily driver and achieve 40mpg+?
