Surprised at the amount of comments about ride quality. Mine is on Mountune springs and is spot on, my other halves is on H&R’s which is a bit more uncomfortable. Mines a 16 plate and only done 6800 miles and I wish I could drive it more. Unfortunately it needs to go now to fund a house frown would definitely have another in the future, a 200 maybe.

We've had our ST3 for 3 years (since new) and still absolutely love it. It's very well equipped with the Sony DAB and the superb heated Recaro seats. It's equally competent on a B road blast up and down the gears at high revs, with the addictive roar from the symposer, or a quiet 400 mile drive up the motorway from London to Scotland in 6th gear. Agree with the comments that the ride is hard, but it's a hot hatch, it should be firm ! Our cat hates it though, way too harsh for him on his trips to the caterry smile To me, it's the modern day XR2 Mk2 with spax suspension. Fuel economy has averaged 37mpg over 15k miles, not bad considering the daily commute is 8 miles each way in slow moving traffic on the London North Circular.

Loved mine for 18 months till it was stolen
It was so laughably easy to steal that I've not bought another one on principle (why the F%%% should I have to relocate the OBD port, disklock. etc etc)
Do miss it because it was one of the best cars to drive ever on A/B roads
Fully tolerable on a 50 miles daily commute and regular 300+ mile weekend round trips
However, that is as a driver, I was aware that the ride quality was worse for front seat passengers and really pretty bad for rear seat passengers (on the rare occasions I was 4 up)

In summary, one of the great drivers hot hatches but too easy to steal

I'm starting to think the stolen thing is a bit of a canard. Happens to some cars then before you know it, it gets regurgitated in forums like PH where it's considered gospel.

It's like the piston 4 issue on the Corsa VXR. It's well known issue, but some suffer, some don't. It just pays to be aware of it.

In Midlands, small village (~200 houses) about 20 miles from Birmingham - general view is that it will have gone to Birmingham and been either cloned with a write-off or stripped for parts within 24 hours - this is all speculation - all I know is the car went off the drive and all that was left was a pile of glass from the passenger front window - key's still in my house so likely they used the OBD port - seriously p&ssed off about it still 4 months later

Yeah, that's what i was getting at. Could be a great car but i just don't want one. There's nowt wrong with that.

The same guy that let me drive his 172 nearly got a 200 and said he'd give me a go of that but he ended up getting something different instead. Funnily enough, that's not the first time that i've heard the reference with Porsche being said about the Renault Sport Clio's.

Yeah, i know they're a bit more to run than the MK2 RS Clio's, but i think they physically look alot better. Cracking cars! smile

Ref - security issues, I read that it's mainly the white ones that get nicked. You can turn off the keyless entry in the settings too.
In 2016 I was bored of driving my old Jag X-type sport premium 3ltr so I test drove a Golf R, a Focus RS, Focus ST and one of these. The first two were too serious and only came alive at silly speeds although both were very capable cars. The Focus ST was too nose heavy but the Fiesta ST was like a breath of fresh air so nimble and playful, if slightly stiff.
So I brought a blue ST3, specc'd it with every option, added an MP215 kit from new then hammered the dealer on price to get it for a very reasonable £19K all in! What a bargain and sooo much less than the others . (Oh, and it being an MP215 from new halves the insurance! over a normal ST)
My commute is 17 miles across country mainly unclassified roads and mainly on my own. What a hoot this car is! It handles better than I can drive but makes me feel I have some sort of driving talent, which I do not.
The ride is firm but the reward is point and shoot steering, minimal body roll and knowledge that when (not if) I misjudge my entry speed into a corner it will deliver me safely out the other side. I absolutely love it! (in case you couldn't tell.)
If you want an easy to live with car that will put a smile on your face on demand, without breaking the bank I can't see why you would buy anything else!

I'm surprised by the many comments of harsh stiff ride.

My mother (65yrs old) and her partner (70yrs old) had a blue ST2 and drove everywhere in it and never complained about the ride once.
It sacrificed itself when they got rear ended by a white van driver on his mobile at 70 mph while stationary at a motorway sliproad.

So impressed were they with the ST they bought a ST200.

Interested to hear more about these security issues. Something I need to warn the parentals about?

There will be a time in the future (probably 20 years hence) when 99% of the population of ST's have been scrapped/stolen/crashed and these become appreciating assets as most fast Fords do...and then it will be properly appreciated for what it is possibly is....the 205 GTi of our times!

The security issues are not unique to the Fiesta or indeed Ford for that matter.

My colleague’s Range Rover was stolen from his driveway, with no damage/noise whatsoever. The met police believe his keyless fob was scanned/cloned which makes for discreet crime.. if you have the equipment.

Ford sell many more cars than Range Rover which is why you’ll read more incidents involving Fords. Discreet electronic theft is an industry wide issue.

I don't see that happening, these cars are produced in much too large quantities.

Clio 200's on the other hand?

I think what he's saying is that, of course, if you have your car nicked, you're going to put it on a page such as those you've mentioned. You're then looking at a huge list of everyone's that have been stolen

The real outlook is how many aren't being nicked? We know they're prone to being pinched, just like Golf R's, but it will almost always look worse than it actually is on those sites.

Always seems to be more Audis and BMWs when you see shady CCTV footage and 3 guys in hides at 4a.m. on the local news

A lot, have a lot at the percentages compared to other cars.

I would say 70% of the cars nicked are fiesta st's, the other 30% are a mix of multiple manufacturers and cars. So the car itself is very prone to thefy.
