Reality = overpriced GT86 with a turbo...
If it looked like the renders above, was 1400kg or less, had the B58 BMW engine and the driving character of the GT86 it would be some car!Reality = overpriced GT86 with a turbo...
Price it the same as the Audi TT-RS, Porsche Cayman S & Jaguar F-Type (£51k) and they should be a massive success.
Based on those drawings and at 60k! Im in.
I have an Exige right now, and it was great value at 50k ish. But they are just getting more and more expensive, same goes for the Evora.
This looks like it will fill in the 50-60k price gap and with looks like that and that price point..... Unfortunately the test mules dont look as amazing as those pictures.

If it looks like the FT-1 concept and is sub £50k, I am in:-
That rendering for me should of had tvr Griffith written on it They are photos of the full size (working) FT-1 concept car that was originally painted red. They repainted it that liquid metal/grey colour for a Japanese motor show then sent it on a round of appearances at various shows. Pretty sure the photos above were taken during it's Pebble Beach appearance...

They are not renderings though.

when you think about it who with say £80k is going to buy a toyota over a porsche ?
It looks like it will be priced similar to the M4, but aimed at competing with the 911. Which actually is a large gap in the current pricing market.
I agree that if they don't produce a manual gearbox option, the Supra will die a quick death.

However, I'd agree with you. Unless by some miracle it comes out with the M4 engine, DCT and hybrid it's not going to be in GTR league.
If it does, I'll place my deposit now! But there's no way a shared platform car is going to be that specialized.

I’m well aware it was a real mock up or rendering it’s been posted on here weekly for ages about how next week a thousand brake fire breathing supra will be back, except it just won’t and if it does it will have a tiny ice engine with battery powerThey are photos of the full size (working) FT-1 concept car that was originally painted red. To be fair I don't think it needs to compete with the GTR, 911 Turbo or the new NSX.The Supra (in MkIV guise) was all about having a sports-GT in a sleek looking coupe shaped car that offered plenty driver involvement.
If the one that is owned by one of my employees is anything to go by then the Supra also offered decent track performance and a comfortable/practical long distance capability.
So I guess the MkV will be similar. It doesn't need huge power and definitely not 4WD, as I think Toyota are aiming for a gap in the current market that sits between the M4 and the 911/GTR etc.
Just have to wait and see if they have retained the analogue feel, or if they've gone boring digital (as many un-involved cars have become these days).

Cue massive disappointment from everyone when they announce after two years build up that it'll be over £100k.
This is actually a good point! Another car which I can dream about owning only to realise that I can't afford it by the time prices are announcedIn a world where a 575 F-Type costs £112k, R8 costs £112k and the new Vantage costs £120k, I think there would be a place in the world for a £90-100k Toyota
Imagine this:-
With the performance and price tag of a Nissan GTR (£85k)

Exactly. Besides, Toyota haven't promised it would be a baby LFA, whatever that means in Yipper's damaged head.Price it the same as the Audi TT-RS, Porsche Cayman S & Jaguar F-Type (£51k) and they should be a massive success.
I owned 3 MKIV Supras over the years and loved them as sports GT cars. I was never that bothered that they weren't the sharpest driving cars as the were fast, comfortable GT cars with enough space to squeeze some kids in the back and a couple of bags in the boot. To me the 2+2 coupe sector is almost dead and I can't see the new Supra being anything like the previous gen car.
As for styling I hate to say it but there is no way it's looking like an FT-1. If it does then I will happily place a deposit but as this is a BMW partnership I don't have high hopes after seeing what they did with the 8 series from the concept stage.

Concept cars really are the ultimate bait and switch. And we all for it every time despite our better selves. The Lexus LC isn't that far off from concept to production: http://www.caradvice.com.au/409580/lexus-lc500-vs-...
I just wish it weighed a bit less as its approaching 2000kg, oh and the silver plastic on the back should be metal.
