Ford Focus RS Heritage Edition launched

The 50th anniversary of the Ford Escort is reason enough for a runout edition of the RS

Back in December Ford treated us to a limited run Focus RS Red Edition and now, ahead of the end of the Focus RS production on April 6th, they've bolted on a couple more upgrades and revealed the Focus RS Heritage Edition. Only 50 will be built and they'll only be available to the UK market.

As an homage to the introduction of the RS brand to the UK and 50 years of the Ford Escort, the RS Heritage Edition will be painted in 'Deep Orange' featuring grey brake calipers and black forged alloy wheels. It'll be based on the RS Edition meaning contrasting black mirrors and rear spoiler differentiate it from a standard RS, whilst the Quaife limited slip on the front axle is included as well as a dealer-fitted FPM375 Mountune upgrade increasing power output to 375hp and torque to 376 lb ft.

Andy Barratt, chairman and managing director of Ford of Britain, said: "The RS brand is hugely important to Ford and is recognised across the globe, however, it has a special place in the hearts of UK Ford fans. This latest model is the best RS we've ever produced, so it seems a fitting tribute as we approach its 50th anniversary."

And for the price for all this? It'll be £3,600 more than the RS Red Edition at £39,895 and order books are officially open.

£40k for a focus nah mate. Take the Rs3 instead you're not going to use that drift mode on the street anyway.

RS3 to my (reasonable) spec is 61k ...

and unlike kia with the stringer, ford have kept this out of the super tax bracket

As an investment it's an absolute no brainer at this price, you can put 5k miles a year on it and it will still appreciate if you sell it in 3, 5 or 10 years.

No chance you'll get one though frown

Please form an orderly queue to tell me how it won't appreciate as it's not as "special" as the last one..........that's what they said last time

So, basically, its orange?

Or am I missing something?

And there's still time for them to do another "final" one painted in a lovely shade of unobtainium...

A cock up that no-one wanted, clearly, hence this version!

I must say that this is much more like it. A bespoke colour that can't be had elsewhere on the Focus. Yes, it's costly, but i can at least see the appeal in this over that red edition one.

It's quite the premium for Orange paint though.

Buy 1/2 year old RS (with correct gasket). Re-spray orange and install FPM375 Mountune upgrade. Or was there something else?

The Limited Edition Status. It's all that matters to those who will buy it.

The previous RS500 was the same - basically a recoloured Mountune car, they made x10 more of them and look at their values now!!

Are people actually paying those prices or do the cars just sit there unsold, with the dealers putting the prices up every so often?

Nothing stranger than folk then. I must say I'd find it extremely hard to walk past, say a manual Ferrari 360 or R8 V8 (cars that would also be 'investments') and buy a wrapped Ford Focus for the same money. rofl

The dealer is local (15 miles away) It apparently sold for mid 50's. Are you forgetting £80k Escorts, £100k Sierras and £30k Fiestas? Just like Porsche, any Limited Fast Ford will sell for whatever people want it to sell for.
