I've seen a 2006 Volvo estate (unmarked) still rumbling around TV&S. It's black with untinted windows, plate is BX56 something.

Seen a Mondeo ST220 for sale on a 2006 the other day that was a 1 owner unmarked police car so they must have only just got rid of it now at 12 years old.
Also in Llangollen which is a very small town they had an old 3.0 X type sport as one of there few cars when I walked past the tiny little police station which looked the size of a small house lol.

Thinking about it now, I'm sure I can remember Dyfed Powys police using a marked up xr4x4 Sierra in Ceredigion up to about 2000.

Don't see them.
Whilst you could suggest people shouldn’t look at them, I think that seeing them is quite passive

Armoured Land Rovers (on the mainland) are old as they’re very rarely used.

Some other specialist vehicles will also he old in various forces like underwater search, mounted section etc.

Winsford? I see one now and again, have seen it since it was fairly new. 02 plate. I saw it about a year ago with rotten arches but more recently it had been sorted. Never known of a police vehicle needing a rust repair before biggrin

I'm sure the reg is DG02STX or similar.
This was in Tarporley so must be the same one, it was when it was snowy. Glad I’m not going mad, quite a novelty really.

According to Classic Car Weekly it's a 29 year old Land Rover operated by Police Scotland

Apparently Scottish Lib Dems made a Freedom of Information request

Our armoured land rovers are 58 plates. They have about 2500 miles on the clock as they only come out for a run every now and then and training.

I don't think I've seen anything older in our fleet.

There used to be old BTP vehicles Parked up at Leeds station, but they’ve got new vehicles now. When it was all getting a bit hot last summer with terrorist stuff and there were lots of clearly military chaps on the streets in police uniforms, there were lots of old vehicles out. I’d guess they keep a stash of road worthy but tired vehicles just in case (imagine a recall of 530d or similar).

I think this might be the Grampian Mountain Rescue/Police defender; a dark blue 110 that is fully kitted out. Passed it the other day and thought about how often I've seen it on the roads for 34 years growing up in Royal Deeside. Not sure of the plate but I'm sure it's a private "OIL" reg that you regularly see around the Balmoral area.

About 5 years ago I was passed by a Vectra B (were they something like 1998 to 2001?) in Portadown (NI) rust was poking through the arches and all. Likely used to respond to incidents in local estates. No point having a new car to get pounded with bottles.

Last time I was there, Gatwick Police still had some 06-plate Shoguns for their Armed Police to use. Though they were being phased out in favour of X5s I believe

I saw a full livery 60 plate Range Rover yesterday - they're clearly getting their money's worth out of that one smile

Northumbria CID still have a few unmarked 57 plate Focuses (Foci?) left that are extremely shed-like - starship miles and quite smelly.

Kent Police do still have old Land Rover Defenders held in reserve for when needed.

Oldest otherwise i have seen is a 2004 Mondeo ST220 Unmarked and a Yellow Mk1 Octavia VRS Estate with Marked Up Livery; that was a 2004-2005 model.

Yep, I'm sure it was a late one a K plate but that would have still been a seven to eight year old car in 2000.

The Met had an ancient Transit incident unit thing in the 1990s.

It had a kind of cockpit thing on the roof, I guess for crowd observation or something.

It was a very old 1970s MK1
