Well done. I am positive that BMW will consider the errors of their ways now that you have selflessly pointed out their refusal to look facts in the face.

Its a brand name, not a measurement.

I’m surprised no-one has mentioned the (d)evolution of the Honda Prelude.

MKI - mmm, very nice…

MKII - mmm, OK, yes…

MKIII - er, OK, but not brilliant…

MKIV – lovely and perfect…

MKV – WTF….

People have been cleverly pointing out that the new mini is bigger than the original for 17 years now! That’s half my lifetime!
The problem you've missed is that the Mini is as bigger than other hatchbacks. The original Mini was developed by BMC to be simple, have 80% of the floor space dedicated to the cabin and to be small for UK roads... hence they called it a Mini, not a F**king Great Big Ugly Munter (the name badge would have been wider than the car).

The Mini was designed to be small and practical, modern Maxi's are anything but.
I see the true successor to the original Mini as being the original Ka. In fact, I'd go as far to say that I think the Ka is one of the greatest car designs of all time. I know what you're thinking but it really filled its brief as a tiny, cheap car, which just happened to be an absolute hoot to drive, even with its original, woeful Endura engine. Just fantastic, really smile

One of the best car designs ever. If it was in left hand drive, and had an engine that was fairly common instead of an in-house timebomb, I'd have one in a heartbeat.
There are some LHD cars- e.g. one or two available for sale in Switzerland- for a price, admittedly!

The whole jag range now is just styled with a ruler, all slab nosed and silly headlights, really not keen after the first XF was so handsome.

That silver one does look quite nice though. But i suppose the same is true of most optioned up cars

Ian Callum needs sending out to pasture. The current Jag range is a huge disappointment styling wise. He's dredged up styling 'cues' from old jags and made a stodgy old dogs dinner of the lot.

You havent really been fair on that e60 by picking base spec. Can make it look the much nicer car next to base spec versions of the other 5 series's.

The new XF has a very awkward rear quarter light, and the bonnet shut line looks crap now (especially with the poor panel fits i see).

Worst though, are the new tail lights. The original allowed an Aston-esque shape to lighting elements. On the new one, they've retained the basic design with the crossbar, but forced the F-Type lighting signature in, ruining the entire point of the original design. They then added an awkward double dip to differentiate it from the XE, it looks so forced - and I suspect it was by the brand recognition people.

Agree, the whole back end is a fk up, looks like it’s been designed with a ruler, why not make the back end look like a XJ instead of the F type, that could have been something special. And it annoys me they rear lights are led but the indicators are halogen.

The E65 7 series was an absolute abomination of car design. Ugly lines, bad proportions, no grace or beauty to it at all.

Over on the specific forums, vast majority are gushing over this...

Each to their own, but that C pillar / rear light / window line thing just doesn't sit well with me.

The XC60 isn't drop dead gorgeous, but the rear end is much more agreeable...
