Can anyone advise me what to do ?
Discussion
Today I have traded in my old reliable car and bought a second had car which has cost me £6000.00.
Two hours later i noticed that the battery light kept coming on while i was driving it.
I have phoned the garage who have told me to take it in tomorrow. However i found the reports from previous owner, he also had problem with alternator light coming on apparently it affected the windows too. I have not noticed this yet.
I am in two minds as to what to do.
I dont want a car with problems, i have used all my savings to purchase this one thinking that it will be more reliable than my old one that had over 100,000 mileage. The new one only has 30, 000.
what should i do ? I need my car for work so if i return it I will be without a car - agh !

Sounds like it could be a headache, give the garage a chance to fix it.
Alternatively you can reject it, this might be helpful https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/the...
I feel your pain OP, I'm on the verge of rejecting a 30k car myself

There is only one thing to do. Take it back to the dealer and let him have a look and see what the problem is, and put it right.
This is absolutely the right course of action. Give the dealer an opportunity to fix the issue. Used cars (even 30k milers) aren't perfect, and things do sometimes go wrong. This won't be the first time the dealer has needed to work with a post-sale issue.
What's important now is HOW the dealer handles the problem. If he fixes the car without too much huffing and puffing, then all's well and good.
If he messes you around, come back to this thread, and we'll give you different advice (i.e. how to deal with a recalcitrant car salesman. )
Either way, come back and let us know how you get on.

Hi, i returned the car to garage and they have taken the car in to try to work out what is wrong.
they also gave me a courtesy car so i cannot fault them
Sounds like it should hopefully get sorted.they also gave me a courtesy car so i cannot fault them
I got mine in the garage tomorrow, I just get the feeling it'll be hassle and aggro. I'm already looking for it's replacement
