Good Morning Folks

I'm collecting a friend from Birmingham airport in the next few days. I havn't been to the airport for years, so could someone kindly tell me the car parking arrangements?

Thanks

When I've picked people up (or been picked up) I've always waited at petrol station round the corner and phoned once through customs and out into the terminal then been picked up at the drop and go car park which, if memory serves, is £1 (It may have gone up since then)

There's a "pick-up" area at the rail station next door, wait there and get them to come across to the rail station on the free shuttle link monorail type thing.

It costs £1 just to enter the 10 min collection zone at the airport itself.

Best to wait out of the area, possibly in Shirley nearby (Morrisons Supermarket cafe) and get them to call when ready for collection.

The long stay isn't far if you are happy to bus/walk.....as with most airports, the short stay is expensive for any length of time.

I've picked somebody up from Birmingham airport recently, there is a short stay, drop-off/pick-up car park that is free for a short amount of time.

Of course you could just use google https://www.birminghamairport.co.uk/airport-parkin...

Think its £2 now!

Few spots to wait around circa 0.5miles from BHX, get phone call they are coming outside drive into short stay which is well signed and then leave within timeframe

Look at the link above drop-off car park 30min free, and it's a short walk from terminal.

Bristol airport though you have to pay £3 for the drop-off car park.

Get them to come out of arrivals then pop up the escalator and onto the monorail to Birmingham International station, and pick them up from there, less hassle.

Second the monorail / train station option.

There is also waiting / places to park up near Marston green (Elmdon trading estate) 5 minutes from train station / airport

Are there any side streets where I could wait for, say, 20 minutes free of charge and then drive towards the airport to pick him up?

Are there any 5 or 10 minute pick up points close to the airport where I don't have to pay for parking unless I go over the time limit?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Just go to the train station you can wait there for ages. I’m being dropped there in the morning. It’s so easy as a passenger to jump on the monorail.

Is there a chance the track could bend?

Depends which way you aproach the airport from, if you come from the coventry side, then pull up in one of the layby,s on the a45 and get your passengers to ring when they have cleared customs, 10 minutes and you will be there.
£2 for 10 mins in the stop and go pick up outside the terminal.
Gets very expensive if you go over the 10 mins hence waiting until they have cleared customs.
Bit hairy exiting the airport especially when it,s busy so keep your wits about you.

Wait there until they call you having cleared customs, then go to the £2 short wait zone.

Come round to the other side of the airport, and wait in the multistorey carpark. The spotters use it quite a bit so it's a decent view and it's pretty quiet. Then drive round to pickup from the train station when you need to.

As has already been posted - there is now a FREE 30 minute drop and go area a 3 minute walk from the terminal. Or, for even more convenience you can park outside the terminal for £2 for 15 mins. But, the FREE drop and go, that gives you FREE parking for 30 minutes is a 3 minute walk away. And it's FREE.

Hopefully that's clear enough for you?

Good Morning Folks

jonvw84 - You mentioned a petrol station nearby - can you tell me the road it is on?

jonamv8 - You mentioned that there are a few parking spots within half a mile of the airport - can you tell me the road that they are on?

A friend of mine also told me that there is a motorcycle museum nearby the airport, and that you can park your car there free of charge.

Thanks in advance for your responses.
