This is absolutely the case. I occasionally get involved with JLR and their most profitable vehicle by some margin is the fully featured Range Rover. I am guessing that, despite the marketing, there are quite a few common parts across the 911 range. To be honest even the high end models are governed by financial constraints, that's just the way of modern manufacturing.
