Fiat 500 Automatic
Discussion
Would this make a good first car ? My daughter has won it on an auction.... I'm a little worried about the mileage.... plus she wanted an automatic and I think this looks like a semi automatic? I.e no clutch but she still has to change gears....

155,000 is alot of miles on a little Fiat that's for sure, there are quite a few corrosion related advisories on the MOT, although it has just had a fresh MOT which is good.
The good thing is you will have a chance to get a good look round the car before fully committing so can walk away if it is not right.
Personally I would be looking for something with less mileage on for a first-time driver, this car cant be too far away from a big repair bill.

I'm not sure of the service interval on these but 155k miles and 11 stamps? Seems a bit low for the mileage unless it's on a long life oil maybe.
Personally wouldn't touch it with a barge pole given you'd probably get something half the age or half the milage with another car, but then it wouldn't be a 500....

Advert is full of warning signs that you should not buy that vehicle, sellers feedback is full of warning signs as well. I've not even looked at the car but I can advise you not to buy it, even if you've put a small deposit down, walk away.
Run OP, run like the wind!!!im surprised the bidding got that high!
thinking about it, selling cars like that which appeal to a certain demographic of young women who will buy solely on looks, it must be like shooting fish in a barrel at times!
at the same time, if it was being bought to support a very low mileage driver, if the condition and history was top drawer the 155k mileage may not be the end of the world, at the right price. Id be thinking 1.5k versus 2.5k...

That’s high mileage for a 500, the dualogic is a manual box so it has a clutch, the gearchange is automatic, the gearbox is a bit slow and clunky when changing gear.
The engine is unburstable butslow and with the dualogic box is even worse
However she has won it, go and have a look, it’s her first car and regardless of condition first cars are memorable for good or bad reasons

I've just bought one of these for my mother-in-law. A 2010 with only 19k miles, picked it up in Barnsley and drove it back to Devon.
The changes aren't quite as smooth as a conventional automatic but ours has the 'Sport" button which makes seems to make the changes much quicker. It can be driven in fully automatic mode or you can use the shifter for up and down shifts. There's no clutch pedal, it's semi automatic
Overall, very happy with it. Sat at 70-80 on the motorway all the way back no problem. Get a good one and I think you'll daughter will be very happy.

Lad where i live is selling a Y reg, 1-owner honda civic with 70k on the clock. They have put new brakes on all corners, engine gone over to the nth degree. bodywork great. air con. new MOT - £1,000. id take that over a fiat 500 any day. Infact i'm trying to find a reason to buy it myself.
