Toyota 2.2 D-CAT problems

Hello,

I'm thinking of buying a Toyota Rav4 and I've found one with the 2.2 D-CAT diesel engine, 2013 model, auto transmission.

Doing a bit of research shows there are common problems with oil consumption and head gaskets but most of these online posts are from 2005 - 2009. Does anyone know if these problems have been addressed for the 4th gen Rav4, released in 2013 or is it still a lottery?

The car will be used on a 25 mile commute so I'm not overly concerned about dpf issues.

I've had 2 2.2 D Rav4's. Both 2012, one auto, one manual. Both used a lot of oil but were otherwise great cars.

I'm looking at getting a 2012. When you say alot of oil, how much is alot?

Was a while ago so can't remember exactly but enough that you would check it every month or so you certainly couldn't forget about it between services.
