PH says my car is crap - I don't care thread
Discussion
Skoda Roomster in sahara sand (beige).
Owned it since new and now on 85k. Several trips to France, 2 trips to hospital with the wife to give birth and regularly doubles upas a van. Never missed a beat.
Will be replaced with a Kodiaq soon, but has been a huge part of our lives for the past 6 years.

My first car at the grand age of 25 was a brand new 2014 Hyundai i10 (2nd gen) and I loved it. It had the entry level 1.0l 65hp engine meaning you could thrash it every where you went and still be going less than the speed limit and achieve 50mpg to boot. Every car I've had since has been better in every conceivable way (other than mpg!), but I still miss it!

My car has doors that dont fit properly, many shades of blue, rust, holes, noisy, slow, not great on fuel atm, terrible on motorways, headlights are awful, bonnet is dented and rusty, chrome is pitted, rack gaiters need doing, steering wheel squeaks, bushes might be on their way out. Not really PH.
I love it.
I think that's very PH. I have a land rover that's older. I love it.
My A-B car is a diesel 06 Peugeot 407 estate which I've owned for three years and has been absolutely wonderful. I really don't care what people think of it, Peugeot or me.
Lexus CT200h. Yes the reviews are crap, but it's not that bad. Granted, it's not quick, but it's not slow either. What it is, is very very well put together (puts my old W204 C Class to shame), a very nice place to sit in the interminable traffic jams I face, £0 road tax, and I'm seeing an average of 60mpg without trying. Reading PH I should have got a golf tdi or some such, but I like the left field quirkiness of the Lexus, and the dealers are ace.

One poster has suggested that a 147 GTA is elevated above a Ferrari (model unspecified) in his lottery winning garage
That would've been me.Make no mistake, i would get a ferrari as well, im just not to entirely fussed about which one, even a "lowly" 348/355 would have more performance then i could ever reasonably use, and sport the flat plane crank V8 soundtrack. I would probably be fine with a california as well, ticks the V8 ferrari box, is properly quick etc..
The GTA though, for me there is no substitute in terms of hot hatchery. It might not be the fastest option, but nothing comes close to a busso V6 under the bonnet, certainly not the typical inline 4 turbo, and from driving my slow-spec 147, im quite convinced the handling on these things is top of the segment.

It was an utter bargain at £1500 mind, p/x at work, otherwise i wouldn't have bothered with one.

I've had several crap - according to PH - cars over the years.
My personal favourite was a green 1.0 Citroen AX whichI bought when really skint. I used to thrash up and down the A1 and A14 for 3 years when I worked in Cambridge. It had zero power, comical handling, abysmal build quality and a seemingly bottomless fuel tank. £20 seemed to last for ages.
I still miss that car.
I scrapped it when it spectacularly failed it's MOT and bought a 95 Aero, which was certainly faster and more refined, but definitely not as economical.
My current runabout is a recession white base model 1.0 Kia Picanto, which doesn't even have central locking.
It's utterly reliable, remarkably tough and has a revvy little engine, which makes it surprisingly nippy.....I'll probably keep it till it's run into the ground as it just works

Our domestic snotter is a diesel Fiesta, one of the nastiest cars I've ever driven. It's a 1.6 non-turbo soot spreader that hardly ever goes more than 10 miles from home due to its total lack of charisma and is most often used twixt home - supermarket(s) - recycling centre, which is really all it's good for. Exterior trim keeps falling off, it's had two replacement back boxes and new injectors; the interior is the cheapest, hardest plastic known to man but VED is only £30 a year and we fill it up once in a blue moon. It's the motoring equivalent of an ugly, three-legged, 15 year old blind dog - you feel it would be kinder to put it down but the bloody thing keeps wagging its tail.
Renault Clio 1.2 Freeway.
When Renault’s poverty spec wasn’t poverty spec enough, they came up with the Freeway.
I have a radio, a steering wheel, 4 tires and a handle if you want to raise and lower the Windows. Just passed 73,000 miles, had it since around 23,000, and has been pretty good. Replaced the front suspension last year due to one side cracking, replaced the rear suspension this year due to one side being cracked and my goal is to essentially run it into the ground. Mum uses it mostly now anyway to take the cats to the vets and on the odd occasion I have my Huskies in the “back” who lick and chew everything and shake sending fur all over the place.

If you have to put stuff like injectors in etc.. surely it would be cheaper to just use one of the other cars for shop/tip duties rather then keeping the diesel-dog wagging? My 4x4 has awful MPG with awful handling to boot and awful small alloys on non-racing non-slicks. Can't wait for this snow to really bed in!
Its acceleration isn't too bad though - joining motorways etc isn't a problem.

Just going back to the Rover 75. When people bang on about Audi and VW interiors being 'nice places to be', you compare them to the interior of that 75 and just wonder at what point we got things wrong.i hope they reach classic status, they're worth preserving. shame the badge lets the car down, in that people don't give them a second look.
I nominate my grubby old MK1 TT, I have tried a few things and enjoyed them, Merc CLS, 944 cab, 350Z but none have got under my skin like this old shed, realistically its a heap, it was spewing coolant yesterday from a broken flange (Fnarr) and has a random approach to various functions.
I know its not that fast int he scheme of things but does pull rather well, they apparently dont handle but I find it ok, however its the package, the 4wd is useful, it has a decent boot (got a 40 inch telly in it easily yesterday) the seat heaters are epic and the heater very effective.
I love the looks of the MK1, always have and have long speculated I would get one and it is pretty much what I expected.
I am able to change soon but I dont want to, because of the things mentioned and the fact it isnt worth much, no need to panic about it, worst comes to the worst, buy another !
