RE: PH Origins: Dual-clutch transmissions
Discussion
I have a dual clutch on my Mondeo and paddles for those moments when the car thinks it is slowing down to a stop rather than waiting to accelerate.
In normal driving I just leave it in D but for those reckless overtaking manoeuvres I liberally assist it with the paddles. Sometimes there is a benefit to dropping down a gear rather than accepting what the computer wants.
Still it has been a learning experience as it is the first auto I have ever owned.

Without it, we wouldn't have the stunning ZF 8 speeder either.
I don't think that's true at all. The ZF8HP launched 8 years after the already excellent ZF6 range, which itself came out 8 years after the ZF5 range. It's an entirely logical development. Their target markets don't even overlap very much. I'm quite sure that the ZF8 was coming with or without a load of DSG boxes in diesel taxicab market cars, and the shift quality and consistency of the DSG box would be totally unacceptable to the core market of the ZF8.Edited by dme123 on Wednesday 14th March 00:11

I can't stand the engineered fart noise, just as bad as the fake overrun. Suspect audi were first, every RS has a 'pop and crackle' map now, its the new chav
I think the first I heard was Golf R or A45 AMG - don't think the RS models do the fart noise but yes plenty of pops and bangsGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
