Other than the middle lane hogger waiting until the last moment to pull over into lane one I can't see any problem with the video. The DCW gave a warning toot on the horn and both vehicles continued at a safe speed through the roadworks. However, I get the impression from comments made that the middle lane hogger (a provisional driver) was holding the DCW up.

If the new driver had not been in front of the DCW, what would have been their chosen speed through the roadworks?

I consider it a personal failure if I have to touch the brakes on the motorway (under normal circumstances).
Likewise.
You guys have obviously never driven on the M25 then!

What kind of mouth breather uses brakes to drop their speed a few mph on a motorway rather than gently lifting off the throttle?
People who drive automatics.
Adaptive cruise control can put on the brake lights without driver input. ACC is fine but I find it a little sensitive in some circumstances as it tries to keep a certain distance, I tend to switch it off and allow the car to increase / reduce the gap a little to save passing on th brake light wave.

Unless you are travelling downhill or with a hurricane behind you then lifting off will still slow the car down, irrespective of transmission.

Sorry, but I think you've posted this in the wrong place. You need to post it in the "sh*t driving caught on cam", the one with the videos
This is the " I'm great and can tell you what everyone else is doing/ thinking/ going to do/ should have done because I never make mistakes" thread.
You can only post on here if you are a liar, boring on a nuclear level and like posting pictures from street view................................

How many pages on brakes, braking habits and brake lights, ffs. hehe

Must be that easy, laid back life they lead - not to mention the heat and all that beer at the barbie.

Guess there are auto drivers and auto drivers, I just ease off the gas, always drive with anticipation and observation helps, some drive with blinkers on.

Not film, but I feel super bad for the owner. Both cars either side essentially touching, no way out. The Audi driver had about 4 spaces in front of them to park.

Meh, it's a ford fusion that's already dented up. You could get out of there no problem Parisienne style. smile

People park like that near me all the time! They bump up right close to the car in front or behind regardless of how much empty space they leave in the bay.

The bay is designed for 3 cars with a bit of space in between but I have seen 4 manage to fit in the bay, all touching!
