From a wide angle camera on top of a helmet, that's not necessarily the same view the rider would have.

I hope I'd be experienced enough to avoid this but I don't think it's as clear cut as the video makes it.

Pretty common for people to cross the road there too. There is a sainsburys carpark she would have just come out of and is heading into York City Centre.

Biker really wasn't paying attention. He sits above the traffic and you can see the woman walking out fairly easily. Just complacency by the biker IMO. But then the woman also didn't bother looking either. It's hard to blame traffic when, as a pedestrian, you don't make sure it's safe to cross.

Pedestrians dont expect stuff to be filtering mbike or cyclist
They see the traffic has stopped and that's it

Maybe it was their first day in the city

Until the various cycling threads on here I didnt realise filtering was so common place - something for the risk takers
Until then most mbikes, cyclists hold their place in the queue
Maybe it depends which town or city and what the roads are like
In the video the biker on the left doesnt filter

York does have a lot of cyclists and they do filter through traffic, regular on that road. There's a large car park to the right and a hotel too and the centre is to the left. It is very common for people to cross through the traffic without looking, even when traffic is quiet they still do it. I find driving in york is one of the worst places I've driven for pedestrians just strolling into the road. Gillygate can be like an assault course.

Well Dashcam came in handy this morning. Young girl on her phone ran into the back of me. Rear cam had her on and off her phone for ages. Probably just over walking speed. Looks like just a few scratches and scrapes but taking it into dealers tomorrow just to give once over and ensure nothing sinister under the skin .....

No probably not. I'm a bit of a soft touch.... She had just passed her test !! I think she is terrified in case there is damage we cant see.... As long as its just cosmetic and she doesn't mess me about getting the bumper blown over i'll leave it.
