Nah, it's Audi drivers, angry that the £5000 a year spent on their vanity badge could go on something nicer. Perhaps two holidays a year, or a nicer house.
My wife is lovely and calm behind the wheel, having bought a car that's done 2/3's of its depreciating at point of purchase, with no monthlies forthwith.

Insignias are quite often hire cars, and a lot of people drive hire cars like utter bellends. That's my theory anyway.
Or motability cars, although the Ford Kuga seems to be the new favourite for that, taking over from the Vauxhall Moca.

Having owned quite a few cars over the years driving nice German cars is the worst. It's not that my driving changes, it's just like the comments made on the internet, other drivers get instantly upset at the sight of a nice German car.

It's a bit like DCWs. We all comment that the ones carrying cameras are the worst for bad driving and creating incidents. The camera has the opposite effect that it should.

I would put the haters of certain brands of car in the same band. Their bizarre hatred for certain car brands ends up with them being the aggressor in incidents. Like the DCWs they won't see they are the issue.

You could take your off topic chat to PM.

The Renault Captur is the fraudulent mobility wagon of choice in our parts. The partially sighted neighbour but one has one. He gets his free taxi to work every day, whilst she uses it as a trinket.

I had one as a hire car when my Astra broke, without a doubt the worst car I have ever driven, slow, uncomfortable, tinny are the three words I'd use to describe it. It could park itself though, which was a fun gimmick to play with, I could park better myself though. Never been so glad to give a car back.

I think most Motability cars are crossovers, think the Insignia is saved from that. Round here it's the Nissan Qashqai that is the Motability car of choice.

It's not the car, it's type of person who desires that sort of car. A percentage of people have dormant anti-social behaviour which is enabled when they feel as though they are of a higher social status. Seeing as much of the western world views cars as a sign of social status, when these people jump into a Audi, BMW, Merc, RR, etc, this anti-social behaviour is unlocked.

They drive aggressively because most of their encounters with other drivers leave them feeling that their pseudo higher status is being disrespected.
At the same time, people with a bias will antagonise drivers to behave according to the stereotype they believe in and we know dashcammers generally behave in a way which creates situations for their videos.

I drive an Audi and get people being idiots, especially at merge points. When I had a Toyota Auris as a hire car and my grandma was in the back seat, grey permed hair clearly visible, an idiot van driver from a certain Preston based bakery decided to drive up my inside and turn right in front of me because he didn't want to wait behind a car full of old duffers waiting for a safe opportunity to turn onto the A6.

I think I see where the bias is, you've actually proven my point, you're driving an Audi and you think other people are trying to antagonise you, let me guess "they're just doing it because they're jealous" and this gets your goat because they're disrespecting the special status you think you have............. A lot of People drive to antagonise, it doesn't matter what you drive, the point is that the level of patience goes down as the perceived "status" of the car goes up.

It's not quite this simple though, it's usually the cheaper and/or older models of aforementioned brands which are driven like this, you see far more Audi A1 being driven badly than you do Audi A6 (by the percentages). What this indicates is people of lower financial means, getting angry because they believe their social status has risen and this makes them feel as though they have something to prove, whilst the brand new A6 driver is likely to have nothing at all to prove.

Well, as an Audi driver I read that, considered it and, as far as I'm concerned at least, it's complete bks. I have noticed, not that often, some aggressive driving towards me since I changed the TT from a Mk2 to a 3. I couldn't say if they're jealous, how would I know?

As for patience, there are many reasons why a person may display patience, or not, although I suspect car make is not high on the list.

A separate thread might be a better place for this. Perhaps we could get back to videos of people making mistakes, others not anticipating, well, anything, and over reacting because they haven't. smile

Well I already said that it's not the car, rather the individuals dormant anti-social behaviour being enabled by the car.

It's like when a perfectly nice colleague gets a promotion into management and then suddenly turns into a complete ahole, it's not because managers are aholes, it's because some people let it go to their head, when in fact the only place where they are important is within the 4 walls of that business, it's same with certain makes of car, these people get into that car and they turn into monsters.

The view possible from the driving position is awful, especially if you're short. Poor rear window design and huge A pillars probably have more to do with it. "Sorry mate I didn't see you" is a valid excuse for them.

Hardly loads of room, relying on oncoming traffic to avoid you isn't sensible. Agreed the brake checking was the cherry on top.

These have become a guilty pleasure of mine having recently discovered them on youtube. Nearly every time the 'cammer' is as bad at driving as the person causing the incident.

I've noticed that the dash cammer will beep a horn before braking or taking evasive action or are the brakes connected to the horn?

Also why is it that after nearly every incident the dash cammer will become stationary? Someone will pull out, they will beep then slam brakes violently coming to a stop for a minute rather than just slow down....

I believe it is a junction in Chilliwack, BC Canada.

But I might be wrong.

I’m sure they sell many more A3’s than A6’s so purely by sales stats you will see fewer A6’s being driven badly.
