From the very link you provided - "It's a terrible movie and it made $200 million. Go figure!"
Hilariously appropriate and telling.

Well the court has ordered to recover the proceeds of crime so will be interesting to read that and how much youtube dollah he has in the bank.... which I suspect will be the square root of f**k all.
Basically scammed a load of desperate people with an intricate scam involving fake websites and fake companies. This is not a simple case of writing bad cheques its a full on fraud and goes quite deep.

Not for a second suggesting this was 'ok', please don't get me wrong.
One question is how much cash he pumped back into marketing his own content; whether that was legitimate or the concept of buying wasted audience for the numbers. Either way I'd suspect that it is something and that may well negate a substantial element of the earnings.

Some, not all, are on a paid for loan basis with clearly defined limitations on mileage usage and a set expectation as to publicity. On a subset of these the V5 does not reference the individual who claims “ I have bought a XXX”.
I have no idea if that's actually true, but I don't think it refers to the people that I'm close to.But I am friendly with one of the people you are close too and have a good degree of admiration for what I would call the career YTers even if the content and packaging isn’t always my cup of tea.

That’s semantics though isn’t it? I lease my main car, but I (as everyone does) say I own a vRS. I think it’s fair to say that if you’re paying for it, you’re entitled to say ‘I’ve bought an xxx’. Long term loans etc are a different matter.

I've not seen any of the better-known YT vloggers claiming that they own or have bought anything on the rental fleet I manage, but I have seen various Instagram "models" ,"entrepreneurs" and fashion bloggers claiming to have bought a new AMG or suchlike, when I know he V5 is in a filing cabinet in my office.
<Anal mode on> Then again your V5's surely have THIS DOCUMENT IS NOT PROOF OF OWNERSHIP on them so technically you having V5's doesn't confirm who owns/bought the car(s).Sam993 said:

I firmly believe that because they approached the topic with such an attitude, they massively exacerbated the situation and fueled the fire rather than diplomatically resolving it.
I was there during the Modball Rally, they were fairly chill despite some revving, I even coaxed a friendly wave out of a few of them as we left.I think they overreacted when their plan wasn't working, next year they should probably stop sports cars entering Monaco who don't have reason to be there such as a hotel reservation, that'd thin out some of the morons and make it easier to police whoever was left, they also need to start fining people for mucking about in the road, I'm surprised no one got seriously injured.
As for the Swiss, I've always assumed they're a fairly chill bunch but I've had several run in's with their most recent batch of young adults on the roads of Europe in the last few years, dangerous idiots who spent daddies money on a car they can't handle.

The bit that isn't often reported is that the crime was committed from 2013-2014 which was before he was into YouTube
I don't think a YouTube channel about scamming old biddies would get many views. (Unless it had a clickbait title *HOW TO AFFORD A FLEET OF SUPERCARS* )His successful channel and the resulting fame and fortune was, in effect, the proceeds of his crime.

The channel started in late 2015, but starting a YouTube channel has no costs, particularly given his early videos were mostly filmed at 'home' looking at other channel's uploads. Brooking10 said:
Do you have a commercial arrangement with the supplier then to mention them on a social media platform in return for access to your main car ?
No. That’s different though, if they’re getting a car in return for ‘exposure’ and not actually paying then I totally agree that they can’t say ‘I’ve bought xxx’. That’s the same as a long term loaner. But if they finance/lease and pay monthlies I see no reason why they can’t say it.
