Are these Vloggers just a scam? SOL or Shmee etc? (Vol 2)

Chris Harris is bitter because no one outside of the UK knows about him and no one cares for watching his reviews hence why manufacturers don't find the need to provide him cars for reviews. YT and social media have major clout and old school journalists like CH are a dying breed.
Speaking of influence, I was in Quail on Friday and attended the Lamborghini launch party and guess who was getting vip treatment at the lounge? Supercar blonde. I don't agree with an influencer getting vip treatment whilst owners get shoved in the corner but its the way things are.
Ignoring all the top gear global viewing even in its current shambolic state what about all those YT videos he made with American chaps 6 or so years ago? Seems pretty well known in America.Speaking of influence, I was in Quail on Friday and attended the Lamborghini launch party and guess who was getting vip treatment at the lounge? Supercar blonde. Chris is all about knowledge... and skill... and history... and a little dash of lunacy. And I adore the guy, greatest journalist/petrolhead on the planet. Timmy...? He's ridden a wave of pre-teen boy subscribers, who suck up all the 'branded' gear and the st tshirts and the odd 'open' moment when Timmy decides to present the tiniest morsel of real life to ensure he presents as 'like the rest of us', when we all know he isn't. Chris hates the game, because it shouldn't be a game, and I'm with him. 'Influencers'...? Influence this.95JO said:

Even if they halved (which they haven't) that's still 175 million people who ''don't know who Chris Harris is''.
I spent a few days during car week and trust me social media personalities like Tim, DDE, Stradman and even Effspot would get bigger crowds than Chris Harris. Speaking of YT'bers I met a few of them at Quail. I said Hi to autovlog who was with wife. Surprisingly a lot of people recognized him. Also met Rana65556 and Mishaonwheels at the show and at the Lambo lounge where he was spec'ing his SVJ63 roadster. I did see Tim with his business partner at the Bugatti display but didn't get to say Hi. And I can't forget about spotting STG's car in the parking lot which was pretty epic to see his car state side...

I must admit, that does look bad from VV but I can assure you that's a recent thing since not getting on with the M3 at the 'Ring - Have a little scroll down, a lot of good track content with his M3 and his friends GT4 - Been mentioned positively on this thread numerous times.

I watched a few Tesla videos on YouTube, one done by a blonde Californian girl who said ‘like’ a lot... she had a video titled ‘how much did YouTube pay me for a million views’.
One of the graphics she showed was where her viewers came from, as this affected a payment algorithm. her biggest audience was from India.
I’m not sure the marketing people from the manufacturers look at where the viewers come from, just the headline subscriber number.
So, cute girl gets views shock. Blonde haired girls appeal to countries where blonde is not common shock.
But I’m not sure what you can do about it, if a YouTube happens to be a blonde woman, you can’t exactly say ‘don’t watch me because of my looks’, it’s a side issue, but perhaps there is some marketing thinking that cars appeal to men trying to impress women. Show an attractive woman raving about a car then there is a chance more men will buy one. Or is this an outdated , sexist view?

There's some great content on ebay, with my personal preference being the US stuff.
There are a lot of people across all interest topics and media formats making a huge amount of cash from their "socials". This includes the automotive vloggers, as much as it does some of the weird fashion / make-up / niche interest stuff. Also arguably crosses over into wider media, which could include the 21st century phenomenon of the "reality celebrity"
It's a bubble that must surely burst at some point, however whilst there is audience numbers of previously unprecedented sizes, compared to traditional TV and publishing, with advertisers seeing rewards from this type of exposure, there'll be plenty who will be trying to make it work for them.
We've probably not yet seen a saturation point, however the best content will naturally float to the surface and displace the minnows.

What puzzles me about the faux outrage by Shmee inc. is that despite not being mentioned at all in the post it’s been made all about Shmee by some mock outrage by his business manager.
I guess the uplift in views and engagement is what it’s all about.
Of course Shmarc is going to get fruity, his boss has just bought one of pretty much all the new AMG models so from a business perspective you don’t want an actual motoring journalist with an infamously direct opinion (ask Ferrari) to be casting doubt on your soon to be new revenue stream
Either way the Shmee corporation has successfully turned something that had nothing to do with them Ito bring directly about them all on the name of clicks.
No wonder Harris isn’t that enamoured with the influencer world.
