Do you have a commercial arrangement with the supplier then to mention them on a social media platform in return for access to your main car ?
No. That’s different though, if they’re getting a car in return for ‘exposure’ and not actually paying then I totally agree that they can’t say ‘I’ve bought xxx’. That’s the same as a long term loaner. But if they finance/lease and pay monthlies I see no reason why they can’t say it.
Either I am not explaining it clearly or you are not understanding what I have written, or indeed both
In simple terms these (in some cases) are not the type of lease arrangement you and I might be able to achieve if we walked in off the street. Short term, very limited mileage in return for exposure of both the vehicle and the supplier.
That’s all fine and maybe we all would if we could.
If your channel is massively skewed towards aspirant, shiny bling, trading and property development innit mate subscribers then it’s important to look like you have lots of cash or else the veneer fades. Nobody is saying “they can’t say it” it’s that if one is over 15 and or has half a brain it’s rather transparent.

Most of them launch from an already very stable life. Property sorted, money in the bank. JWW, Archie Hamilton and STG are the 3 that spring to mind. Others have seen the business opportunity and fair play to them I am sure the time / money invested by the likes of S150 is huge.
Don't even get me started on the "Super Car Broker" that is Seb Delanney.
I have a lot of respect for people like Chris from B Is For Build or the lads from Mighty Car Mods or Jamie FYD. But Nico Rosberg starting up as a Vlogger... wtf.

I don't have a problem with all of them but what irks me is when SOME of them try and infer that ALL their money has come from youtube and "sponsors" etc.

Starting from a stable position will always help. Not only does to give you the freedom of time to pursue the YouTube dream, it also gives you the backing to make content which isn't readily available to people with no/limited financial backing. Stuff like flying out to a car launch, visiting an exotic location to drive a supercar and get in the good graces of car companies who will gift you cars to review and be seen. Not saying its impossible but it does help. Most of them launch from an already very stable life. Property sorted, money in the bank. JWW, Archie Hamilton and STG are the 3 that spring to mind. Which does lead me on to my next point.
I want to get into the vlogging game. I can see at least 100 messages now discouraging me from it! But I really would like to give it a go. I won't ever claim to be the next best thing in Vlogging or claim to be anything I am not. Although written word isn't exactly my forte, I am a great raconteur of stories. I am that guy what everything happens to. I could talk for days about the time I rode a moped into a police man, then in to his car in Barcelona, rolling a Daewoo Matiz in Norway pretending I could rally drive and the time Kimi Raikonen told me that my Dad's Saab was st in Monaco.
I love going on epic driving adventures. Heck, most of my honeymoon was spent driving the south west of America! I have also done a couple of charity 'Rallies' across Europe in cars what wouldn't look like making Dover on a good day. Most stories from these adventures are very lighthearted and comical. That is where my sense of humour lies. No driving trips were ever the same. I really do wish I had documented what we got up to. From these trips (and numerous holidays with the wife) I have made contacts with people in very different car scenes ranging from Japanese Street Racers in Tokyo, Mexican lads with their modified cars in Las Vegas right up the the extreme world of the people who restore British Leyland cars! I would love to cover all of these at some point as the stories can be more interesting then they seem.... Also added to this, in my previous job I had dealings with many people in motorsport. Whether they be mechanics, designers, logistics or drivers themselves. Some have great stories to tell.
I'm not on here to angle for money or anything like that. I have all the relevant equipment to Vlog as I do have a passion for photography and have made and edited a couple of promotional videos for my previous job. What I am asking for is some tips and knowledge and help on how to get up and going, oh, and to see if their is actually a market for what I want to make. So if any Vlogger wants to help, please send me an email through here.
Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Just start filming, editing and posting. The only way to learn and improve is to practice. Your early videos will be no good and no-one will watch, but if you have something to say worth listening to, or can come up with your own content niche you'll build an audience.Truckosaurus said:

This. The most important thing to remember is that UK automotive vlogging is a saturated market, and even those with huge audiences are struggling (Tim seems to be breaking the trend thankfully.) You need to be vlogging because you love doing it, not to become a vlogger.
Also keep in mind the only new guy of recent times to have "made it" is TGE, and he has a very clear strategy and method to what he's doing. Love him or hate him, he's done very well.
It's no longer a case that you can just make great videos and people will find you, for every STG, there's another 100 people doing an equal job with no views.
Alternatively, pick a niche. I love tyres. I make videos about tyres because I love tyres and making videos. I'd still do it if no one watched them, I'm just fortunate some people do.

Shmee - The GT3 vid is brilliant, genuinely impressive edit by Ben with some excellent drone work, great evocative sound all through and a real sense of enjoyment in the whole video. Liked it a lot, felt very much like an old-school Topgear short film (in a good way). Few too many Epics and Megas thrown in but they're definitely forgiven as it looked like a fairly epic and mega experience.
Would recommend to folks on here, it's a good watch. Worth it for the launch at 9.20 alone
