If anyone is interested in doing what Samcrac does with salvage cars, you might want to watch this first?

Stick with it. The reveal halfway through is worth the wait.

I do genuinely feel sorry for Paul. With JWW doing all his NVN and lifestyle stuff, Sam doing his Drive [some of] the World, Seb concentrating on his French channel and Tim just living the dream it seems that Paul has just been left behind. The whole dream Lambo thing seems to have changed direction more times than a dodgem now. I can't even remember what the current plan is with it. The videos seem sporadic and don't appear to have much effort put into them. And it's a shame considering he built SOL up from nothing and I used to really enjoy his videos. But as everyone else moved the game on with editing and content, he just seemed to lag behind.
He was also meant to become a pro drifter.....which will never happen.

Another YouTuber I've been watching since his channels inception is TR Hamza - I don't think he's been mentioned on here (not that I can remember anyway) - He's recently done a high mileage mk5 Golf GTI K04 conversion build series, recently acquired an Impreza Turbo to restore... As well as his LCI M2 which rarely features nowadays, some of the usual german performance car features too. Good editing/camera helps...
That GC8 Impreza looks like an interesting project to follow, they used to be everywhere but dont actually see many of them anymore so I will keep an eye out on that.

I think that Hamza lad is having a good go at trying to find his little niche within the UK car youtubers, he is obviously not in the same position of the rich London supercar boys to be having all the access to the high end cars and invites to manufacturer and journalist events (maybe he might be surprised if he actually pushed for that, he gets similar if not more views than channels like Joe Achilles or Queen B and yet they are all over the manufacturer and journo stuff....)

Maybe he is also a little more sensible now than the other few channels that 'review' other peoples modified cars (and catch all the heat for their dangerous driving...) and that doing these projects is a good step forward.

For sure, he didn't even turn on adverts until a year down the line, fair play to him... He's the same age as me and has a similar taste in cars so I find him pretty relatable!

The fact SOL has 775k subs and is lucky to get over 50k views in most uploads is crazy... He's well and truly dropped off - He deserves it as well, hasn't listened to his audience, ever. As someone who relies on them as an income, it's pretty bizarre.

How long until big brands don't touch him?

I think when he hired a Nissan X Trail to drive to Tony from Gravelwood's dealership because it was too costly to drive there in his aging Lamborghini from his Watford digs, the wheels started to fall off for me. The latest taking the car back to original spec, loud exhaust revs through Hatfield Tunnel on the A1 is getting desperate. I don't see much of the Cupra either, but the content seems to jump around alot compared with the other Youtubers.

Shmee150's worth watching, seeing the garage (or should that be fleet?) grow and evolve with the 'Schkittles' (cringe) has been interesting, and Sam's latest segment whilst back in the UK has been good.

Archie Hamilton's channel seems a little all over the place with the "did I buy the wrong Porsche?" / ordering a new Merc A45 (straight after buying an A35) is a bit "first world problems" for me. I would have liked to have seen more racing content, but I guess the jaunt to Paris with Jaguar did not exactly go to plan.

Ditto TGE, who is saying "chaos" a lot less of late, though I think he's planning to get another Ferrari. Hardly see anything of the Jimny bought on a whim, like Shmee150 did. I guess the next "small car" on some of the Youtubers list is the Merc A45. It's great seeing how the other half live, even if the content is fairly similar.

He wanted to, but no one watched the videos, he acknowledged it and moved on.

The Lambo is a dream for him, but I think he bought one with issues and has to be careful how he proceeds, a restoration of the car could see him break even on the project and give him Lambo content which always does well on his channel, then he can get a more reliable & less mileage sensitive car and start driving it again.

I remember that video and I remember cringing pretty hard... He also mentioned in the Nismo GTR 'review' video that he's done more miles in that loaner than his Murci - Tragic. I get that it's very expensive to run and insure but seriously? He's living way beyond his means here...

In fairness, I wouldn't want to drive a Lambo-lookatme-gine around London either.

It may come as a surprise, but there are people winning drift comps who don’t even have a YouTube channel .

It comes down to does he want to carry on trying to live beyond his means or would he be happy to cut his cloth but follow the drifting?

He was actually good at it in the videos he made .

biggrin

As for drifting, I think it only really works out for those who have access to cheap repair shops or have the ability to DIY. A lot of work goes into the cars and I doubt most Vloggers that get mentioned on here could change a tyre let alone replace a steering rack or diff.

Brands will touch him. I work in the industry and here's how it goes...

SEAT CEO to Senior Marketing "We need to sell more of our Cupra Ateca line or this has all been a waste of investment, get out there advertising and report back with the numbers"

Senior Marketing to Influencer Marketing person "Why are you not doing more, you should be doing more I'm just not seeing the numbers, where's the numbers I have the CEO breathing down my neck GET ME SOME fkING RESULTS"

Influencer person to Shmee: "Want a Cupra jeep thing?"

Shmee: "Na"

TGE: "Na it's not compatible with my Huawai Senturion thingy's"

SOL: "£20k to run a Cupra for a month, hell yeah I'll take that to pay for a Murci paint respray!"

Influencer marketing person to Senior Marketing: "Guys, I've just locked down one of thee biggest car YouTubers in the UK, can I have finally have that pay rise now?"

Senior Marketing: "Yeah but what's the numbers?"

Influencer Marketing person: "700k+ subscribers and on some of his videos they reach up to 14 MILLION views!!"

Senior Marketing: "That'll do"

Senior Marketing to CEO: "I've really smashed this one, we've loaned a car to a YouTuber who gets 14 million views on his videos, that reach is better than any TV advert we could ever have paid for"

CEO: "Well done Senior Marketing, have a pay rise"

His father has nothing to do with his cars. Shmee is self made through hard work, tenacity and a bit of right place right time. His story should inspire.

As an extremely beginner drifter me and my mates were pretty excited about SOL's drift series but for us it missed the mark when he uploaded a video titled 'my new drift car' or something like that, then unveiled a new C63s

The guy doesn't have a clue what direction he should go and is quite frankly embarrassing himself now I feel
