I'm a casual watcher of car influencers (or whatever you're supposed to call them on Youtube) as I suspect a lot of others are. The thing that really frustrates me is that in many cases you don't really learn very much about the car they are driving, or get an opinion on it.

My three favourite channels on this subject matter are Jay Leno's garage, Harry's garage and Doug DeMuro (although he can be quite annoying). They all give a pretty detailed explanation of the cars they are driving and then give a reasonably honest assessment of what it's like to drive them.

I've quite enjoyed some of Tim's/SOL etcs videos in the past but I've not watched many recently because I feel they are getting pretty repetitive and after watching them I just feel like I've wasted 20 minutes of my life. I'm sure others enjoy them, and have no axe to grind with those who do, but for me they aren't really giving what I want.

But surely enjoyment of the content doesnt correlate to the view count? I mean people click and watch before they know what the content is, rather knowing what the content is and then decide to watch.
The stats are more complex than that. For the big players on youtube it's about making engaging content which people don't click away from after 30 seconds and which people return to watch future videos. It used to be all about short videos where clickbait worked, I don't think it does now (sustainably).

Still clickbait isnt it. Next it will be "watch this 30 minute video and see at which point we flash up a special code which wins you a free pair of socks"

That will keep the engagement.

Ultimately it is all becoming what Harris moaned about when Smarc saw his arse. "When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure" Goodhart's law

Having said that, combine does have a trick red leather seat, which we recently discovered is heated as standard. We only found out when combine driver said he was struggling to sit in it as it was getting hot on an already hot day! We then found a hidden switch in the armrest; who knew combines had heated seats as an option..
Reminds me of driving my gf's Golf one day as it has heated seats that are on a dial so stay on the last setting. She'd set them to level 5 out of 5 (why VW does a heated seat need 5 settings?!) and the day I got in it was baking hot.
I had to pull over as I thought I was actually ill with the heat up my backside and it was incredibly uncomfortable. It was upon getting out of the car I noticed my mistake.....I feel for the farmer!

Oh and keep up the good work Harry, yours are by far the best vehicular youtube videos around!

I can honestly say I've never watched one of harrys vids or even had them come up as suggested

Seeing as everyone on here seems to love him I'll give one a watch tonight, any recommendations?

For Harry I would suggest the Countach to the south of France or the Rolls to the Arctic Circle.

One of my favorites...as is Harrys Garage, always a good watch and learning something too is a bonus.

Harry could review lawnmowers and I'd lap up every minute.

Definitely these or the Ferrari in the Sahara Desert.

Enjoyed the cost break down of his car videos also.

Just laughing to myself; thinking what my Devonion farming ancesters would have thought of heated combine harvester seats lol.

Damn good idea of course with our islands weather.
Still think heated steering wheels are a bit soft though.

I've just watched a near 20 minute video where the YouTuber is driving a Novitec 812 Ferrari. The highlights for the YouTuber were the colour of the car's key and the noise of the exhaust. Literally, the entire section about the Ferrari (I'm guessing 15 minutes of the video) was about the noise of the exhaust. I despair.
These are the type of Youtubers who would go and buy a wristband type thing which replicates the key, a true labour saving device if you have keyless entry on your Ferrari but taking a key from your pocket is too tiresome rolleyes

Hubnut has bought a new car and it's awful. But still more exciting than a Lambo whatever from Redline.

My only criticism of Harry's videos is there aren't enough of them!

I think it's fair to say Harry you are the only Youtuber on this thread we universally agree on hehe

My favourite Harry video is the S1 Landie one, and now I want a Harry's Farm retro episode, doing the tasks around the farm using that with PTO attachments.

When he was outside the mg rover factory i really hoped he'd got a mg rover .

Before he goes to new zealand i'd really like him to get a cheap ford puma and review that .

This 100%.

So you get 100,000 views in 24hrs. But people watch a 15 minute video of a car revving and being told 'its brilliant' it and some people go 'meh'. So the next video only gets 80,000 watch's in 24 hours. And on it goes until you get 100,000 views in 24 days.

Its like watching a soft core porn video when staying ina hotel when youre pissed. You know its st but you keep watching thinking itll get better, but you know it wont and next time youre not going to bother.

Erm... you don’t need to touch the key with keyless entry, it stays in your pocket.
