Unfortunately in the cases of both the comparison of BMW engines, and an old Supra over a new one; neither would be particularly YouTube appropriate pieces of content. YouTube don't grant users the right to license content posted to Youtube to others, they only give permission to watch, distribute and share content.
So yes, YouTube say it's fine to link videos but not license them to others, but by linking videos on Pistonheads you're granting a license that you're not entitled to grant.

Is the result of this that you basically cannot share a link to anything anywhere? If that page you link to has a logo on it or anything like that then it's not something you can give the copyright to.

It’s moot arguing. Fact is. Someone posted a link to a YouTube video that did not break rules but didn’t conform to T&C and it was removed.
