Definitely these or the Ferrari in the Sahara Desert.
One of my favourite YouTube videos for sure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRjGN--R4pEyanyan said:
I've just watched a near 20 minute video where the YouTuber is driving a Novitec 812 Ferrari. The highlights for the YouTuber were the colour of the car's key and the noise of the exhaust. Literally, the entire section about the Ferrari (I'm guessing 15 minutes of the video) was about the noise of the exhaust. I despair.
These are the type of Youtubers who would go and buy a wristband type thing which replicates the key, a true labour saving device if you have keyless entry on your Ferrari but taking a key from your pocket is too tiresome Hubnut has bought a new car and it's awful. But still more exciting than a Lambo whatever from Redline.

When he was outside the mg rover factory i really hoped he'd got a mg rover .https://youtu.be/b5zDk6ZNHv0
Before he goes to new zealand i'd really like him to get a cheap ford puma and review that .

The stats are more complex than that. For the big players on youtube it's about making engaging content which people don't click away from after 30 seconds and which people return to watch future videos. It used to be all about short videos where clickbait worked, I don't think it does now (sustainably).
Still clickbait isnt it. Next it will be "watch this 30 minute video and see at which point we flash up a special code which wins you a free pair of socks"That will keep the engagement.
Ultimately it is all becoming what Harris moaned about when Smarc saw his arse. "When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure" Goodhart's law
So you get 100,000 views in 24hrs. But people watch a 15 minute video of a car revving and being told 'its brilliant' it and some people go 'meh'. So the next video only gets 80,000 watch's in 24 hours. And on it goes until you get 100,000 views in 24 days.
Its like watching a soft core porn video when staying ina hotel when youre pissed. You know its st but you keep watching thinking itll get better, but you know it wont and next time youre not going to bother.

You're not wrong to question whether a given approach is correct or sustainable, but there's a lot of variables involved in making that call.
If Tim wants to say here that a video is doing really well by the numbers that don't matter when in reality it's taking a big hit by the numbers that do, that's up to him. It doesn't affect the rest of us, but nor do we have access to the data to run our own analysis on it.

I quoted the views as a primitive outlook as to the video performance but over the last few weeks I've relaxed the nature of my content and the Shmee-character quite significantly, which is instantly reaping rewards.
It wasn't all that long ago that getting every video to 100k was a challenge whereas now the channel is on a run of over 60 consecutively and most of the recent videos are 200k or higher; in fact on average 1 per week over the last 5 weeks has done half a million. Not only that but the detailed information in the back end shows higher retention times, a stronger %age of US audience (which is critical for high value advertising), and July broke records for my channel which already look set to be broken again in August.
There's no guidebook or set of rules to follow when doing this but it's all a balance and ultimately I view it very much as a business and look for what is going to be the most successful. I don't intend to stoop into a world of clickbait by any stretch of the imagination and far too many hours are wasted working out how best to title each video, but you have to play the 'game' that's in front of you and I spend many hours every day in the Analytics to work out how to do that as best as possible.

Shmee, In your latest video did you purposely quote Jake Paul? I was showing a mate of mine your latest video of getting stopped again in the GT, my mates son was in the room and got very excited upon hearing you say 'it's everyday bro'
Yes, it was an inside joke we were making about how bad the GT's fuel situation is; combination of poor economy and tiny fuel tank.InitialDave said:

WRT views, I assume Youtube(rs) can distinguish between those who have clicked and viewed only 30 secs and left vs those who have viewed the video in its entirety. You're not wrong to question whether a given approach is correct or sustainable, but there's a lot of variables involved in making that call.

I assume the latter more desirable because of the option of having ads spread through the video itself (multiple ads viewed = increased revenue)? Is there any other benefit in keeping people viewing until the end?
Do YouTubers get more money if a user actually clicks an ad as well?
Most important question: Has anyone ever met someone in real life wearing a Vincero watch?
Shmee, first off, due respect to you for the hardwork you put into your channel. I know it's so easy for us to criticise your work but you show a lot of maturity dealing with the negative criticisms and having watched your channel grow over the years, i can only say that the sky is the limit for you because you're always one step ahead of the game! What's happening with your plans in Germany? Are you still moving there and doing things around the Nurburgring? Also, great to see you're a fan of Harry's Channel also. What would you say are the top 5 YouTube channels you follow or 10 if you watch that much?
I can say now that my car has been reviewed by JayEmm. I can also say that he is a thoroughly nice guy and is very respectful of your car.

Well said. As much as I can only watch some of his videos including muting my laptop at the first 10secs Uber cringe ‘hi guys I’m shmee’, fair play for the amount of hard work and way in which you deal with most of the criticism (barring schmmmmarks slur recently)Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
