Only 1 day after having the bike out this year and already had 2 encounters with cars trying it on. 1st one, civic type R comes flying up on behind on DC and stays glued to the back, I pull over, see 2 lads laughing then I take the bait. We're into naughty speeds then he pulls back over as I go past. Stop at the lights, thumbs up and go out separate ways.
2nd guy seemed a bit more serious, 3.0 diesel Audi, follow him for a while at normal speeds then black soot everywhere as I pull out to overtake him (DC) he keeps it floored but starts going backwards but won't give in. Single lane again so I back off and he's right up my chuff again.
No real point to the story other than 2 enjoyable dices and its good to be back out on the bike with some decent weather! The Audi actually surprised me with his in gear acceleration, maybe I should change down from 6th next time I go for an overtake ;-)
Any other cool story bra from this weekend?

Never really understand when cars try and race bikes.

Occasionally at slower speeds I'll make a bit of noise playing around with a bike, but if we're talking DC then I'm moving over at the soonest possible opportunity.

I once chased 2 sports bikes around Oliver's Mount in my old MX5, they were gone on the straights but braking and cornering I had them. I stopped after 3 laps and let them win as it was getting silly, we shared a nod of the head and a thumbs up!

On a semi-serious note it does annoy me when slow riders filter to the front of a queue. No bike (apart from mopeds) should ever be beaten off the line by a Mondeo estate yet it is a common occurrence.

IMO if you're going to filter to the front you should consider it pole position in the TL GP and launch appropriately.

The other thing is blasting down a dc and staying in the outside lane while the inside is free while braking waaayyyyy to early for that roundabout with ridiculously slow "apex" speed and then only really tempting traction once the handlebars are completely straight. Annoying in the dry but infuriating in the wet.

Yeah, any reasonably fast and good handling car will stay with a bike on twisty bits.
Problem is that you don't know how good the biker is, and I try not to race them as I've seen a few novice bikers end up running out of skill when pushing it a bit.

A car trying to take on a serious bike, is a bit like the same bike trying to take on Concorde.

The silly season is approaching, now the warm weather has arrived and the damp roads or leaves aren't going to be a problem for the majority.

I often look forward to seeing the odd gaggle of jockeys opening up on the straight and overtaking an already indicating truck at 2x the road speed limit, just as they are transition into a crossing box . It really does make me feel fortunate. wink
