Whilst driving around in my MX5, I have taken to wearing a farmers style flat cap. Yes, a few years ago they were usually worn by old pensioners who pootled up the motorway at 30mph on a Sunday afternoon.

However, now they are the chosen headgear of "The Cheshire set", Prince Harry etc, definitely the thing to be seen in.

You can pick them up from a charity shop for around a fiver.

Anyone else a dedicated follower of fashion?

I have 2. I am often seen wearing one whilst driving very slowly in a 47 year old land rover. Not often seen wearing one in the mx5 though. Just seems wrong in the mx5.

I’ve been known to sport a leather flat cap from time to time.

I have a hat that came from Marks and Spencer but its a bit faded and scruffy.
I describe it as a fisherman's hat.
In winter a nice woolly Sweden bought hat is used.

i picked up a rather fetching Harris Tweed flat cap for MX-5 top-down duties in the winter. Hats generally make me look awkward, but I think a flat cap suits me and is more socially acceptable than a baseball cap or a beanie.

If you've got an open top car a flat cap is a sensible gentleman's choice. Trust me people over 30 who drive cabrios wearing baseball caps look like complete bellends
