Anyone know of UK market based website that give historical prices if a given car/model over time in the second hand market? I'm surprised autotrader doesn't do it as they have the data .

Trying to figure out the depreciation on some potential cars I'm interested in

I was wondering this myself a while ago. Whatcar used to provide a depreciation calculator; don't know why it was removed.

If you're worried about depreciation, you cant afford it. Either buy something cheaper or do as I do and buy cars that appreciate smile

I suspect that the reason it’s not out there and free is because it costs money to track it all.

CAP supply valuations to dealers with 12m history and future predictions of values but of course they charge a small fortune for it.

I'm embarrassed for you over how cringe-worthy and clichéd this comment is.

Ok, He could buy a quality car like a 1990s Mercedes and look after it. It will drive better than a lot of the crap on the roads today and it will appreciate in value. Or is he like you, and worries what people will think of him driving an older car?

I may be due a whoosh parrot here but that is one of the most ignorant, most idiotic, most "special" (as another poster said) thing I have read in a long time.

Thousands upon thousands of people can easily afford it, but choose to know what it is/will be.

An example is myself: When I bought my car I could easily afford to replace it had I written it off after a day, I still could do so today, I can easily afford it. However, according to you, because I check how much equivalent cars are going for so I know how much depreciation I have suffered then I can't afford it? What a load of crap...
Why do I care how much I have lost? I hear you ask, because it's still lost money!

If I was worried about depreciation I wouldn't have bought a Ford..... contrary to the general assumption German cars are best and badge envy that seems prevelant in this country, I have a more exclusive car compared to the common German ones.

Patina, I thought that was the name for the layer that develops on copper or bronze though oxidisation and exposure to the air.

Assuming the car is sub 5 years old, if you've got a Halifax account you can log into their PCP calculator online and plug in a car, mileage and it'll give you their residual values.

Pretty good to give you a relatively ok estimate.

The residual value of your car depends on the price of the car you intend buying and the willingness of the sales 'person' to give you a good px deal.

Trying to be Pc here.

They key word here is 'worried' but as you are so rich and can easily afford to throw money away, I doubt you worry too much about it.

He didn’t say he was worried, he said he want to know.

I can afford my mortgage payments, but I still want to know what they are in advance of signing on the dotted line... maybe by asking my broker he now assumes I can’t afford them...

It’s called financial planning. I’m reliability informed that many very successful people / businesses are quite keen on it...
