There certainly are many occasions when things which have been done badly or without any attention to the most basic details really annoy us all and the "These pictures make my teeth itch" thread is the testament to how common this is. In fact, I've had a few pictures in that thread myself. However, there are times when something requires a bit of planning and effort, and works out exactly as you intended making you feel smugly superior.

I have managed to pull off the picture below yesterday, it required some planning and a bit of effort on the day when the outside temperature wouldn't rise above 13-14C to get the external temperature sensor to read the necessary figure, and I feel far more satisfied about having managed it than a grown man really should. The universe is in order... Mrs QQ, on the other hand, can't stop laughing at me about my little accomplishment.

Am I alone in feeling like this?

I applaud your dedication; truly, we need more people with this level of attention to detail.

Slightly disappointed you didn't go the whole hog and work it at 20mph and 2000 rpm. But hey, you've got a while to plan the 300k mile effort, right?

There's a thread for significant mileage pics like that somewhere in GG ,no idea what it's titled.

I want to post in it as I recently had 111111 showing.

Poor effort.

If the pic had been taken whilst the needles on the dials were pointing at 20mph and precisely 2000 rpm.... then I'd have been impressed.

Edit - Dammit Deckster beat me to it.

Like the others said, shame you weren’t doing 20mph.

People go batst crazy when a pic is taken from a car in the "Bad Parking" thread, imagine the grief if you take a pic at 20mph!
2000 rpm would have been possible though

Just realised you must have planned it 200 miles ago.

Next milestone is 222,222, but I think you'll need to take it abroad to get 22 degrees at the correct time of night. (More chance in winter if you switch to farenheit...)

Two of the four are easily manipulated though. The temp clearly was by the OPs admission - and clocks are relatively easy to change.

OK the trip computer and mileage took a bit of planning - but still biggrin

I wish I still had my Volvo D5.

Sold it with a mere 82k on it 5 years ago because I wasn't using it due to my company car.

Checking the MOT history shows it's still going strong on 177k now.

But surely the wide divergence of needle vectors at 20mph and 2k rpm would ruin the pleasing matching of digit and parallel indicator that was so expertly crafted....the image you describe would be a candidate for the teeth itch thread surely?

So I tried this last year in my old MX-5. Planned it for about six months as the car doesn't really get driven that much. Unfortunately I took a slight detour on the way home 790 miles before the big moment and ended up a mile out. The clock ticked over less than 0.1 miles later.

All that effort. rage

If someone is keen enough to alter the temperature, that's dedication in my book!

(Certainly more dedicated than me!)
