No. But bikers buy Porsches.
I thought bikers were all burley hairy chested types who had thick skin - you portray them as millennial snowflakes.

I really wouldn’t worry and suspect Porsche not want weak snowflakes as their target market

Mods and rockers - fighting , don’t think we’ve ever seen the same in the car fraternity. Actually if you pissed on a Mods chips (not an Internet forum bod who cleans up threads haha)
I think your stereotypes are out of date.

Most of the bikers I know would be in awe of a car going faster than a bike around the TT and it wouldn't influence them not buying a Porsche.

Yep ^^^, got a bike and a Porsche. Armchair experts on here spouting opinions like they are proven facts are the issue.

Most of the bikers commenting on this thread and previous incarnations seem quite emotionally invested in it not being possible.

Yeah, so they add one more lap record, and damage the egos of a lot of potential customers who like to think nothing is faster than a bike. It would piss a load of bike people off and prove nothing relevant to anyone else other than it’s quicker than a souped up Jap saloon and an old Rover. Oh, and some bikes.

Not saying I wouldn’t like to see how fast a properly quick car can do it, just that I don’t see what’s in it for Porsche.
Porsche don’t sell motorbikes do they....
Pushbikes.

The excitement of watching it over there in person is the fact that you can literally sit at the side of track, and I don’t mean on a grandstand 100 yards away I mean at the side of the curb less than a foot away!
And the fact when racing is over the road opens, you can jump on/in your own bike or car and away you go round the exact same circuit...
So its like rallying, but with bikes. And without getting sprayed with gravel. hehe
It’s probably similar to the group b days but are they not strict now and make you keep a sensible distance? Iv never been to a rally unfortunately.
Depends on the event and where you are - some do keep spectators to restricted areas further from the road, but where I am its pretty free as long as you're in a reasonably safe place (not on the outside of a corner sort of thing, mostly common sense really).

Same variation with bike races I guess, the couple of bike road races I've been to had barriers and fences to keep spectators a fair distance clear but obviously some let you get closer.
This is typical TT viewing hehe

Not open for TT this year but taking bookings for July so MGP fortnight is looking good.

Close and fast but not very interesting to me watching bikes whizz past in a straight line. scratchchin

Not taking anything away from it, if it pushes your buttons then thats great - just personally I'd much rather stand beside a corner watching cars go sideways even if they're doing less than half the speed.

Of course being close to the road can all go badly wrong quite quickly, especially when some people think its a good idea to spectate sitting down on the outside of corners! yikes

That sounds like a typical warm summer day if I open my windows.

Yeah, it looks like it be very interesting for about 20 mins, then I would get rather bored. Corners are where the fun is.

You’re in luck then, over 200 corners per lap at the TT.

Do spectators really walk or drive round the island for different viewing areas? Or is the roads all closed so your limited to where you are + a bit of walking

You can drive about but you cannot cross the circuit so you are either inside or outside. Obviously if you watch from a pub car park for example, you are stuck there typically all day. We are based in Peel so Cronk y voddy or Kirk Michael are both accessible, and when we get bored we can go back home.

Oh there’s plenty of corners to choose from! And some insane crashes, 1:40 and 2:50 for instance.

To be honest watching most motorsport in person can be boring sometimes. One of the most disappointing races I watched was the f1 at silverstone, sat in a grand stand miles away cars don’t even look like they are going fast would rather watch on tv!
