Good. So we agree bikes are faster.

So what type of apple is the orange?

Granny Smith?

Yes, the bikes that have been round did it faster than the car that has been round.

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

Yes if we're comparing showroom Road Cars vs Showroom Road bikes when it comes to a purpose built Race Car will beat the bikes times but no one wants to build it so at the moment bikes are faster.

I'm looking forward to seeing what a purpose built 700bhp Subaru with every trick in the book thrown at it vs bikes that are restricted by regulations.

Cars, several cars have tried but all have been slower. It’s a bike event but still the organisers afford limited time for car enthusiasts to give it a go and stamp their authority over it. They fail of course.

If you say so.

I was reading yesterday how Dean Harrison’s ZX10 super bike still has a standard showroom frame. Pretty impressive.

Yes pretty much all the racers use the standard frames as the WSB/BSB versions are to stiff which causes no end of issues.

Yep, they are the facts. All those bikes that compete each year are quicker than the couple of cars that have had a couple of laps.

Another fact is that this has all been done to death.
Well they shut the track to give somebody with the balls, the time to give it a go and to date MH and Prodrive are the only ones to give it a go. Yes they fell short but I applaud them for trying. So many armchair experts on here who cannot accept the outcome but would never try themselves. Just too hard I guess.
Something something F1 car something something bumps something something GT1 car something something bananas are clearly superior fruit for making apple pie.

You forgot the Porsche 919 and Audi A6 2.0, probably 2 of the fastest things on the planet.

Id still love to see how a stock mclaren 720 would fair... As quick as most superbikes in a straight line and dare I say it better on brakes .. but I'd imagine poor on the fast bumpy sections?

On normal race tracks where is the race won?

Straights
Cornering
Breaking
Tyres degradation
Commitment/talent

For me when you win is the cornering and carrying more speed round so that your back onto WOT as early as possible.

He may be a Fraggle. Most people think that he is a Muppet though.

Both a Performante & GT3 tried having fun with 1000cc Sportsbikes on the island last year both got caught out by the bumps which resulted with the GT3 in a field & the Performante taking it's front bumper off after a spin.

I would be interesting to see, the old 12C was slower around Cadwell (which as close as you'll get for a comparison to the TT course, just a lot smoother) than the 1199 which wasn't the best bike back then.

So which are you in favour of Pear Apple Orange or Banana?

But different to a racing driver in one of those cars

yes Around Silverstone, a standard Formula Renault (210bhp and 500kg, so 420bhp/tonne) is considerably faster than a Moto GP bike (160kg & 260bhp? 1650bhp/tonne?). FR is 1min55, Moto GP 1min59.9. They do it through cornering and braking, and that's with very mild aero (equivalent to about 100-130kg at high speed). The top speed of the FR is only about 135mph, whereas the Moto GP bikes are topping 200mph I think.

It's also worth mentioning that slow cornering and braking also gives better racing for spectators... Speed isn't everything.
