I visited another Suzuki dealer this morning so that the OH could have a test drive, and to see what their take on the likelihood of getting one was. They had a black Jimny which was really helpful as I wasn't 100% sure on colour. The black looked really good, especially with the alloys. The OH loves it but is struggling with the concept of having the cash sitting there but not being able to actually spend it smile

£18K list price? Bit more than I was expecting.
Me too. If so I'm out byebye
Yeah, at 12-13k as initial rumours suggested it was a bit of a steal, but 18k is a lot of money for a toy. A new Hilux (with discount) can be had for not much more than that.
And indeed, that is the direction I went in the end...

Wanted to love the Jimny but as the prices crept up the lack of practicality became more apparent, I just couldn't do it.

With black always looking dirty (I currently have a car that colour...) it will at least look as though it is being used properly...even if had just been used on road smile

On another forum a user said they have just been told they will be able to collect their (SZ4) model this month, which sounds promising. I contacted a dealer that was advertising a car as ‘brand new and in stock’, which, as you might expect was actually just meaning their demo had arrived and in fact they didn’t have any customer cars in stock...

A scan of the Uk accessory price list has been posted here (credit to whoever did that, it’s not mine)

I like some of those accessories. The full boot liner and dog guard thingy makes it into a great two seater van.

So it appears you can buy a jungle green touch up stick but not a car in that colour to touch up!

But you're comparing a 2 seat convertible with a hatchback. Unless you live on a farm or work in a quarry, the only advantage the Jinmy has over the Ignis seems to be that it looks cooler... You need to balance that against the significant price difference and the Jimny's compromised on road performance.
Road performance really isn’t that compromised tbh. It’ll get from A to B perfectly fine. And it’s still a pretty cheap vehicle in the grand scheme of things. It will also be easy to park due to its body shape. And have a commanding driving position, even if it’s not overly tall.

I've been reading and watching the reviews on the new Jimny for the last few months.

Yesterday my wife and I were nearby to our local dealer so I took the chance to pay them a visit - I thought they may have a demo vehicle we could have a look at, or at least I'd be able to find out how the order book looked, if they were taking orders.

Long story short.. they had a manual yellow SZ5 there which had just got back from a demo, we jumped in and spent an hour or so driving around. Ordered one on the spot (colour to be decided) - it had to be the SZ5 as OH really likes a satnav screen. Otherwise we'd have gone SZ4 and had the dealer retrofit heated seats, which they said they can do

It won't be a motorway bashing vehicle, more for pottering around locally and in a 20-30 mile radius. On the country lanes around where live it will be ideal - great visibility and great fun. It's a small G Wagon - we also have a full size G Wagon so they will make a good team.

I don't know how long the wait will be but I don;t actually think too bad - the salesman said they'd only started taking orders on Wednesday so we are close to the top of the list. He also said that most sales are for the SZ5 so if you wanted an SZ4 you could get one more quickly

I think it's something special so given the likely numbers coming into the UK I would recommend getting an order in ASAP!

Anyone know why Suzuki UK dropped the Grey & Green and are only bringing in 1000 units?

Obviously the colours are available from the factory. Is it just Suzuki UK being dumb, or are they like other manufacturers importers that think they know what people want (white & silver), but in reality have no idea?

Presumably because this car is in v high demand world wide, and other markets are more profitable/ important to Suzuki (Japan, India) so that’s all UK have been allocated.

Still relatively little info on the main Suzuki UK site for these. No breakdown of prices, options or spec. Do the dealers have any brochures or similar?

Simply haven't built enough, the car is only made in japan so slow progress, they can barely supply the Japanese market so they are not in a rush to get many across to the uk where they only have a 2% market share.

Colour wise not sure.

Not sure market share % really matters, outright numbers will count. If demand remains, I suspect Suzuki will step up production to try and meet that demand.

Can't they get the Hungary factory on with them?

as far as im aware its only the japan factory which is currently set up to produce whats needed, they should crack on and get it sorted in Europe as well

I'd say it's almost entirely to do with profitability and exchange rates at the moment working against us. It's not just Suzuki, it's hard to get your hands on a lot of German stuff at the moment too.

Be interested to hear which dealer this is. 250/300 units available to sell until at least June , can only sell from your allocation (we have 6 . 2 demos 4 to sell ) I don't know what you've "ordered" as you cant order anything.

^ Yup

we have had similar conversations with customers who said they have ordered a car elsewhere, have to tell them they have placed a deposit to be offered a car which may or may not be what you want you are not ordering a car.

When will you as dealers expect to know your allocation, to then be able to offer them to your customers who you have taken deposits from?
