Driving our demo tonight, SZ5 in Bluish Black, looks amazing.
pics ?
I’ll grab some tomorrow. It’s an ace car, I absolutely loved it. Would definitely be better with the 1.4boosterjet though, just a little bit more low down power, but it’s still more than adequate.

Here is a pic I posted of a black Jimny I test drove last month. I didn't have any
choice when the dealer received the allocation so ended up with silver. I would love black though, and wish I could "swap" with somebody who wants silver but is getting black.....
Here is a silver Jimny taken from another forum -

tim0409 have you thought about getting the Jimny vinyl wrapped black?

Anyways, here's a bunch of not standard Jimnys at the TAS tuners show in Tokyo https://www.topgear.com/car-news/modified/japan-ha...

They both look good, but I prefer the silver.

The silver is growing on me, and the OH likes it; the owners who have received them are saying the silver looks better in the flesh so I'm sure it will be fine. We went for the base model and the one thing I would like is the rear windows tinted; I've never had it done before, I suspect it want cost that much?

I don’t think it will be too much to tint them. They look flat and easy to get to.
The dealer may well be able to recommend someone. When are you hoping to get it?

The dealer said March but that it could be sooner; just waiting on the call!

I just got a call from the dealer; their first customer on their list has either pulled out or delayed and they now have a black Jimny on site - as black was my first preference they asked if I wanted it for pick up on Sunday, which is a result. Will report back after we pick it up!

Tested one of these on the bright green/yellow.

Hated the colour, but loved the little thing. Then got told of the 8 month waiting list. Which is nice. Is that a country-wide thing, or should I try another dealer?

The salesman called this morning and said we could pick it up today. Neither my wife or I have bought new before, and given there was no discount and no attempt to up-sell anything the process was both quick and painless. With 30 minutes of arriving we were driving away with massive grins! I am so glad there was a last minute change and we were able to get black as I think it looks great (it would have been March had the original buyer not completed).

We couldn't stretch to the SZ5 but the SZ4 is reasonably well equipped with cruise, bluetooth, aircon and what appears to be a decent stereo. I've had a quote of £80 to get the rear windows tinted, which I think will look good (as per the SZ5). Will post a thread in the readers' cars sub forum when I've spent a bit longer with it. It drives reasonably well, and whilst certainly not a motorway car the higher driving position and great visibility make it good fun.

A happy wife...

I saw a guy driving a new Suzuki Jimny this morning in Chesterfield; he had spec’d it in green.

It isn’t the colour that I would have chosen but the car itself looks great! cool

Great to see people collecting their Jimnys and hearing about their experiences.

My silver SZ5 should be here in 5 weeks time.

I'm not sure if there are luggage nets and other things available for the Jimny, it has tie down loops and such in the boot. With the seats down, I suspect it is more intended as a utility type truck, much like the Defender.

If you want a boxy, compact'ish 4x4, with a separate boot. Then maybe the Jeep Renegade is worth a look.

Obviously not as capable as the Jimny off road, but this might not be an issue, depending on your intended use.
Same as above really. Long term durability, it's a FIAT product essentially. I do take the Defender off road, and maybe I would with a Jimny if I had one, but that isn't its main purpose. It does have to manage a very rough, fairly steep un-adopted track to the house though, which will scrape the underside of a normal car (like the A Class!) and its gets badly iced over in the cold. Plus I have had trouble with modern part time 4 wheel drive systems, a traditional system like the jimny has does hold some appeal. My BMW suffered from a failure in the X-drive system which caused it to lock the centre diff/clutch/coupling/whatever at the wrong time, such as on a long dry fast curve, causing some very strange behaviour and transmission wind up. I am not convinced these types of system are that robust if they are called into use regularly.
Isnt a plus sized Fiat 500 underneath? I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole

Not to be confused with the 500L, which is Peter Kay's car in Car Share
