I have to say I hardly see any on the road. Was there a lot of hype but at the end of the day people haven’t bought them or are they not able to supply?

I think initially there were only around 1000 allocated to the UK

Plus has been a big hit in more important markets to Suzuki than the UK - for example Japan

I saw my first one on the road last weekend - they do seem to be rare. Looked superb, though, amongst the usual blandness that fills the roads - but I like odd stuff, anyway.

We live rurally so see a couple about regularly, they look every bit as good in real life as in the pics.

The waiting lists just weren't practical for us so I ended up buying an Amarok pick up which is probably more practical and is a fully fledged commercial vehicle. Running costs are in another league however!

There isn't much point in making a great vehicle if folk can't buy it.

This is true. There was also talk about the Jimny pushing up the average CO2 levels for Suzukis sold in the EU. It's better for them to sell more environmentally friendly cars than more Jimnys. Maybe they will put the mild hybrid units in the Jimny?

Hi,

A year on from this thread I can say that there is still a 18 month waiting list and used prices are ridiculous.

Did the people who put the deposit down get their cars?
I put in an order in Dec 18 and my car was delivered in April 19. I had to accept whatever colour it came in and it’s was silver. It looked super and got a lot of adoring comments. However, I disliked the driving experience and sold it on after a month to someone who was going to use its off road abilities more than I did. There was no shortage of interested buyers. I see 2 around the area we live in which is dominated by Land Rovers and Pick Ups.

Did you get over list price for it? Used ones are going for loads more.

I spoke to a dealer yesterday and they still say the same thing. Name on list and if one turns up I can have it. No choice of colour or specifications and if anything they are going to be importing less due to strict 2020/21 co2 rules.

I saw one outside a local Suzuki dealer, one outside the Suzuki dealer in Kingsbridge last summer, and one on the road a few months ago.

But yes, they were somewhat limited in the number they were able to supply to the UK for whatever reason. I've seen more RR Cullinans than Jimnys

I've only seen 3 around Edinburgh over the last year. One each of white, black & silver, all on steel wheels. They all looked great in the metal.

Popped into a local Suzuki dealer at the weekend out of curiosity. Same story. Name goes on a waiting list, their's currently has around 20 potential buyers waiting. The dealer has no idea how many they're being allocated in the next tranche, and have heard (unofficially) that the UK is only getting 400 cars this year. A real shame.

David.

A styling company in Japan can do you a version that looks like a baby Defender/G-Wagen:

Gone all quiet about these. Still enjoying them? I just had a look and secondhand prices seem crazy, £24-£30k?? How much were they new?

It is funny really sukuki Ignis can be had half price with 4x4 used, yet mugs still pay other the odds for looks. Never even use them off road anyway.

Let's face it, a lot of cars are bought for their looks. The Jimny is a very unique vehicle, so with supply being low, of course the demand will be high.

I happen to have a 2016 Jimny and I've driven that off road a bunch of times.

unique in as ripped off the g glass design, then yes.

It will be bought by people more interested in being seen in at Starbucks drive through than actual being used.

We've got a 4x4 Ignis -apreciste it's a bit of curate's egg in terms of looks but the packaging is really good.

No hardship to have full size people in the back, which is pretty impressive given the size.

I'm not sure it has the same 4x4 set up as the Jimny and the Jimny really does look great.

Well, the G-wagen no longer has solid front and rear axles, and therefore isn't as good hehe
