No problem. Or bare feet.

Wouldn’t be seen dead in them, never mind driving. People here are idiots if they think they are in full control of a car when wearing flip flops

I don’t have a problem with people driving in them.

It’s grown men walking about in them that I’d like a crackdown on hehe

Fine for driving.

Until you have to brake really hard then you're fked as your foot will slip

Why bother trying to keep a flip-flop on your foot, when bare feet are much easier??

There's no way I would drive in flip flops. It's pretty obvious, they aren't securely attached to your feet, and if you can't move you foot safely between accelerator and brake, it is possible that otherwise preventable accident may occur. Why take the risk when there's plenty of choice available in footwear?

I kick the flip flops under the seat and drive in bare feet. It is apparently illegal to do either, in Spain but I see no issue with bare feet.

I often drive in bare feet and put flip-flops on before I get out of the car.

Have driven on occasion but more often without, and then slip them back on when i get out.

Which is probably what the driver did that the OP is getting excited about.

Flip flops go under the seat for me and then back on before I get out of the car. Bare feet works fine.

I've often driven in flip flops or bare feet in the summer. Never once had any problem at all. As for the claim that 20%+ of invalidated claims are due to footwear.... I'm not buying it. Surely the insurer would have to prove that it was a major causative factor in any prang.... which is near impossible unless you were idiot enough to admit it.

Seems like this was in the news 5 years ago and was a stupid idea then, just like now.
