Heathen. smile

I've one of these and it's a glorious experience even with a four and six year old in the back - their noise is nicely drowned out by the incredible V12 sound track. We looked at the competition and aside the FF (2 doors the reason we didn't buy one) nothing comes close - the attention it receives is quite ridiculous and, unlike the Panamera, it looks incredible from almost every angle. Highly recommended if you can afford the fuel - mine does 16mpg.

Looks lovely, have toyed with these for a while as I think first gen are relatively good value. How have you found yours to live with in terms of maintenance/reliability?

Didn't realise these were now sub £50k for early cars with 40,000-ish miles, seems a classy way to spend 50k.

Shame but I agree.
Aston are "on a journey". They appear to have lost their way... hehe

Are some on here really convinced that it's compulsory to order the car with the lame lime stripes and other garish bits?

I see a few about. I actually think the length helps the shape and prefer it to the DB9 which I think is beautiful.

I have seen a fair few in the wild - and to be honest IMO it is a car that looks better in the flesh than in print.

As for that thing ^^^ - yeah I would!

Always thought AM mucked the Rapide up a little bit when they facelifted it with that gopping, enourmous Audi-esque front grille a few years ago.

It still doesn't suit it. But the rest of it is a stunning thing.

Astons have never been the pinnacle of 0-60mph times; there's more to it than that. In the case of the Rapide, it weighs just under 2000kg, carries 4 full size adults in luxury, with a soundtrack that's special, especially judged against an RS6, E63 S etc, and as a chassis, is one of the most stable, balanced cars they've ever produced.

Bucking the trend somewhat, AMR are doing the opposite of what M and AMG are doing. AMR look toward objective performance gains over regular variants of a model, rather than just different coloured bells and whistles. As time goes on, M and AMG options are becoming more like trim alterations (AMG branded alloys on a diesel A class for example - slightly dilutes the 'performance version' heritage IMO).

In any case, the Rapide's had a life similar to the Ferrari FF. It started life a bit unloved and many questioned what the point of a 4 seater V12 was. As the years progressed, it started to make more sense, and they're finally seeing an appreciation now. Aesthetics are subjective, but the AMR Rapide is something I'd lust after, especially with the Vanquish S exhaust setup.

I mean in terms of the visual presentation. There seems to be a lot of glitz and garish colour schemes, which isn't something I'm a fan of.

No issues at all.

Recommend having a drive, use the sport mode (makes the car come alive) and enjoy. Mine has a remote baffle opener which makes the whole experience even better!

In the 75-150k price bracket if you don't want a rep mobile for family transport you have few options - Porkers or Range Rovers.
Yeah, it's the issue we had - not a lot of choice. Proper Porsches (engine in the back, 2+2, 2 doors) were tempting but impractical everyday. RRs are driven by anyone who can afford a lease and I'd have died inside if I'm honest.

For me the Rapide is just made for Dads - a load of fun with bucket loads of style, Bang & Wosit stereo and a ridiculously good engine up front. It's not massively fast to 60 (sub 5) but pulls like a train when it gets moving. You'll confuse everyone when you open the backdoors (no one expects a 4 door) and the bucket seats for the kids are a nice addition and also fold down.

Some more images of the Rapide with our other left-field cars...(shame I couldn't find a Rapide in white eh?)

Salute your choice of cars, a fine trio there. Good to know that the Rapide has provided good service. I imagine makes sense to run one with the backing of an AM warranty though?

....... Blinded, probably by the badge. It looks aesthetically challenging. I'd rather have the B&W speakers in the doors and not the front bumper foglamp apertures.

I don't usually bother with warranties but the Aston is a daily driver so I'll continue it. You'll get one years free warranty on used from Aston as part of their 'Timeless' scheme.

I bought one a couple of months ago because they are pretty good value now. FSH with a one-year AM dealer warranty which can be extended each year. Makes it a very enjoyable and very usable low mileage daily driver.

Mines looks almost identical to yours (sa_20v) although I think my wheels are slightly different.

Big Aston Fan as owned a couple of Vantages and love the Rapide but jesus, know your market!

AMR is all well and great but keep the visual elements to the cars that benefit from it and the Rapide certainly isn't one.
