I'm the second owner of my Elan: the first owner had it from new in November 1971 and kept it for 44 years, travelling only 27,000 miles (she was 82 when she sold it). smile

I've had my Caterham for more than 15 years and counting .... driving

Currently gone 10 years with the R32 GT-R, which almost seems like yesterday.

Sadly, i don't really drive it that often now, especially since i have a rocket powered shopping trolley.

Yes, Impreza P1 owned 12+ years. Number 67/1000 with only 39k miles on the clock.

It's rarely driven and more of a garage queen now but I have no urges to sell it and I doubt there are many left with so few miles.
That's some top lurking there.

Does family owned count? A friend of mine has a Morris that was passed down to him by his dad, and passed down to him by his dad (i.e. my friend's grandfather). It's been in the family for nearly 70 years. It's had two full restorations but is still in use as a daily.

I’ve owned my Monaro since new (12 years). Reason I keep it is it’s rare, goes like the clappers and nobody knows what it is. Everyone loves it though and for me, every drive is an event of NASCAR V8 exhaust noise and supercharger whine. I still love it after all these years.

Still have our E39 W reg 528i SE with a manual on the driveway, had it from nearly new. Have lots of plans for it but not sure what to do with it. Could restore to A1 condition, but that will be expensive, as it would require various rust repairs, full respray (or two), full restoration of plastic exterior trim, interior leather restoration (needs a good clean), full wheel restoration (style 42 18"), new gear lever, new wheel sensors, ABS sensors, and DSC sensors, and new speed sensor. Has a major oil leak as well although was running OK before SORN, but likely needs a VANOS job on it. This is all assuming nothing else major has happened to the car whilst it has been sat.

I personally would like to drive it, but currently have expensive insurance. Other family members could drive it but they all have their own cars and this would be something extra, and I am not too sure if they want to keep it running considering their cars are markedly better at everything compared to the E39, as well as their cars being expensive enough to maintain!

I personally love the engine, suspension and handling of the car, essentially I am the reason why it hasn't met the same fate our T reg Vectra met. I really want to restore it to the best possible condition, that car is the main reason why I am into cars so much anyway. Our grotesque SUV is alarmingly quicker than the E39, but there is something special about the M52 engine. On top of this, manual E39's are rather rare. I even want to do an OEM+ restoration, possibly adding more parts to the car, as there are many E39s residing in scrap yards (unfortunately).

Ho hum.

My mum has owned her Ford Focus Ghia (remember that trim level?) since new in September 2000. Nothing flashy, but it’s been a reliable workhorse over the past 18 years and 160-odd thousand miles, even though it’s had the passenger side driven into, drivers side driven into and the backend driven into (each time fixed through insurance). It’s worth buttons but to us it’s irreplaceable. I have toyed with the idea of finding a mint car from the same era and mothballing it so that in the event of a disaster it can be rebuilt. The best way to describe it is like Eric Bana’s XB Falcon from “Love The Beast”. No matter what it’s been through you couldn’t bear to part with it.

My grandfather had his Standard Little 9 (rare coachbuilt) since about 1949, and it left the family in 2011 iirc.

My other grandfather's '87 escort is still with us, family owned since 89. I'm not sure why at this point.

In August 1978 the lady next door got a hew blue T-Reg Fiesta.

In the early 2000s I was visiting my parents - we'd moved several times since 1978 - and when I arrived at the house to visit one day, I saw an immaculate T-Reg Fiesta outside. It was our old neighbour who had come to visit. She gave me the keys to look around it. There were somethung like 28,000 miles on the clock. I say the car was immaculate but there was a small red stain on the black and white dogtooth upholstery which I had made as an eight year old when i spilt some Ribena. She kept the car until her death in 2005.

We have a car that has been in the family since new. A black Mazda CX-7 bought in 2007 and still performing well today. In that time weve had three new Land Rovers, a new MX-5, an MG ZT-T V6 an MGTF and 2 MGFs but the CX always seems to find a role.

Its just a car we all really like. It was our main car for five years. We normally swap every two years or so. Six years ago it got into an ice based bump with some street furniture and while it was being fixed we took the opportunity to buy a new Land Rover.

That would have signalled the end of its time with us, but it was still getting used. My FIL was thinking about changing cars and fancied a SUV so he borrowed it for a week or so. That was 2013 and its been "borrowed" for nearly six years. The V5 is in his name now and he has no intention of getting something else.

Its a car we all love. One of the family. I happened to be at the dealers when it arrived from the port and i actually pulled all its cargo packing off the inside in he stock yard because i was so excited to get it.

I think i paid £23k for it new. Money well spent.

12 years in the Griffith this year - cant think of anything to replace it. I have a friend with a 1997 Audi A4 estate owned from new that has just turned over the 250,000 mile mark. All 4 kids learnt to drive in it and used it as their first car. Looks a bit rough though........

Had my 1993 Impreza WRX for 15 years.

Ever since a young teen I’ve loved seeing immaculate old cars on the road and I wanted one of my own. Not sure I made the right choice, but it’s done and it’s mine.

Love your profile pic of your GT-R in the snow, always liked the R32 with the slim pillars, and a "just right" look to it clapbiggrin

I've had my Megane 225 from new and that was in January 2006, still got my Twingo 133 again from new but in 2010. My CLS63 is a 2007 but owned that three years this year and have no view to move it on.

I love the idea of having my odd collection for years to come. smile

I've had my Dyane since '86, and A310 V6 since 1999. Both left hookers having started off life on the roads of Europe, and they're now running round upside down at the bottom of the world.

Loving all these stories, when the PCP is up on my Fabia I really fancy buying something to keep that I won't get bored of.

Our Yaris is a relative nipper at almost 10 years old, but we've done over 130k in that time which is more than most. No intention of getting rid unless it throws a huge bill, it just works as it should day in day out.
