Not exactly 1-5 large but it's in the spirit of the thread...I've just taken delivery of a new Volvo S90 and I'm over the moon with it but the biggest concern at the minute is the media system/touch screen.

I never understood people that absolutely slated the idrive in the e65 as complicated and difficult to use, it takes half an hour tops to suss it. The system in the volvo for the radio etc. seems a right pain in the backside due to not having a rotary dial yet I've never heard it get a slating like the e65 used to get.

So many, many options coupled with almost fully touchscreen is somewhat ironic when there's such a focus on safety. I'll hopefully manage to get the voice control working well but I just don't agree with the idea of so much (including fan controls, heated seats etc.) being on a fully touch screen system.

Anybody else planning overdue barge works?
I need a new radiator on the 540 Touring. This will be my 3rd radiator in 6 years.

Surely there must be a reason as to why? I know the cooling systems are weak but that's no normal. Most 16 year old E39s haven't gone through 8 radiators, for example.

I've been to this dealer before. Basement floor of an abandoned factory FULL of vehicles that you can't view properly. Their attitude was shocking as well.

It's perhaps a little rusty, but it's a lovely thing in green. Manual with working air-con must be quite unusual.

Had my e61 550 almost 4 years and it's never had a rad or AC condenser AFAIK.

This is back.

Was down to top end of thread budget last time it was advertised but the seller (the same one?) decided to keep it.

Still tempted to get it.

These cars look amazing value for money, i'll shortly be in the market for a big estate car with some decent poke having had my A4 stolen and waiting for insurance to process it.
These Superbs look like a great Q car with the big engines
Great shame these are cursed with the sky high VED

Well the first was due to old age, the second was due to a new fan snapping off which trashed the new radiator. This one has cracks in the plastic, the metal bits are ok.

Buying it would be the act of a madman obviously, but I like that. A lot.

The VED issue has been discussed many times. Considering it's really only a few tanks of fuel makes it ignore-able for the right car. Whether that's it or not, I can't say, but it looks tempting enough to me.

Yes i do agree with you, It's not as bad as it sounds really as it's not like anyone considering a car of this type is likely to pick a £25 tax band car as an alternative.
But I think the vast majority of people would run a mile from paying it.
Whenever I've talked to anybody about owning my S4 over the last 5 years the VED seems to shock the most.
I also hate the way they have now changed the system so if you bought the same car post 2017 in 5 years time you will only pay £140 VED but the 2006-20017 vehicles are stuck with £500+mad

I think the muggles find the high tax so disproportionately off-putting that these cars depreciate artificially quickly and you might get a disproportionately nice car for the money.

That said I have recently bought a car for just over double thread and the £550 VED really really pisses me off. Rationally as others have said it's just a tank or two of fuel but compared to VED for all other vehicles it is bks

I pay high-ish VEd for my 2003 A8, low VED for my 2005 Fiesta and no VED for my two 1960's Rileys - four cars with total VED less than £400; suits my motoring needs, suits my pocket smile

It's been a long day.

Stinky diesel and 142k on it, oh and lowly luxury, but XF in thread budget. Didn't realise they were in scope.

Jags of that age, they're a bit, um, pub landlord .
My biggest problem with these is the Peugeot coupe with the same engine on the same year for half the price, but with a stunning interior
Or the estate. I don't think the 407 will ever become a classic but for £2700 before haggle (and i am sure there is haggle in this) this looks a great way to V6-and-slusher your way about.

That would do very nicely to replace the XC70 as the family barge - only reservation is the tyre profile, given Mrs BFB's propensity to smash rims (3 before the XC70 on 65-profile) on potholes.
I live just a few miles from this and had arranged to go and see it back in Easter when he was selling it. Then he went quiet and pulled it from eBay and Auto Trader. I think he thought he had underpriced it at the time and here we are 7 months later with more miles on it for nearly £1k more. In the time that has passed since I have come to conclude the 3.6 doesn't make sense and the 170 diesel in Elegance trim is the sweet spot. Although not in thread budget yet the my2012 3.6 drops back down to the £315 tax bracket IIRC.

The Christchurch car doesn't have heated rears btw or the upgraded stereo. It does have front and rear parking sensors though which are amazingly not standard fit!

I was bidding on it too and then it went quite. The chap said he was going to keep it. I thought it was £5000 or so when the bidding ended last time.

I nice chap has said he would go and see it for me so worth a shot. I think it represents quite good value but not sure where I sit knowing it was £1000 cheaper, less miles and the boot strut worked last time around!

But 4 cylinder diesel, and I made a solemn promise to myself frown
