As we are all talking mercedes woes...went to use the e320 coupe at the weekend, flat battery. No bother I thought, I’ll take the w116. Great until it died on me in a box junction! Not an easy car to push to safety...not really sure what the issue is either, so wary of driving it to the mechanic, as I have to cross a big m25 roundabout - really not a place to get stuck.
You just need a handful of towels, a roll of duck tape, and a mate with a banger who isn't shy to crashpush you across to wherever it is you're heading.

This is an excellent thread! Great to see the gold 300e up and about.
I'm confused (to be fair it doesn't take much) has your gold 300e changed hands for a second time?

Hi cat220,

Yes, I’m afraid. Look back to page 186 for the brief story. In a nutshell, I was hankering for a Bornite 190e and, as much as the Gold 300e was utterly wonderful, I just couldn’t resist.

Sorry, the car is now miles away from Glasgow and I’m genuinely sad about that. I’ve got gallons of parking space on the drive at home but limited garage space and I couldn’t bear to leave it outside and exposed to the Scottish winter when it’s bodywork was so good. I would definitely have kept it, otherwise.

Sorry in advance for a total thread derail....but so many of you guys were incredibly kind in the past and wondered if any of you would be willing to help me out again!

I have decided it's time to do another event for charity! I'm raising money for the Wessex Neurological Centre in Southampton who literally saved my life. Just over 3 years ago I raised money for Brain Tumour Support, who are a wonderful, wonderful group of people, but this time around I would like to direct my efforts to the unit who houses the members of staff who saved my life, and continue to look after me.

https://www.gofundme.com/hw565t

I know Christmas is coming up soon, but PLEASE, any donation, no matter how big or small all makes a huge difference! The details of the challenge I'm going to do are outlined in the link above. Please like/share/donate! Thank you all for ANY possible donations, but also thank you for the immense support in the past!

PS - yes.....an Everesting. I must be bonkers!

Link to my old thread here

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... which starts getting "interesting" from October/November 2014 for those who aren't familiar with my history.

Anyway....as you were bowtie
Done.

You are totally mental. The best of luck Ross!

Anyone who hasn't read Ross's story in the link above I'd really recommend it.

To those not in the know, Ross didn't just go from an E38 to an E65 in this time!

Ross, put some mental pictures to the numbers.

What is an Everesting, in terms of a hill most of us might be familiar with?

(the drive at Goodwood?)

This thread moves so fast I missed that. Looks like it's went to a good home.

On a separate note I see you used c&c in Hillington for a secondary cat delete and H pipe, thinking of doing something similar on my e55. I've used c&c a number of times in the past. If you wouldn't mind could you let me know how much they charged for that? Drop me a PM if you prefer.

Off the top of my head - and I'm sure I remember correctly - they charged £220 + VAT.

The car was in for a whole day. I supplied the X-pipe but they had to remove the existing H Pipe and custom-fabricate all the requisite stainless pipework.

2 months later, they double-checked the integrity of the work, FOC.

Couldn't be more impressed with the work and service, frankly.

The ride will be around 160 miles in total, around 80 miles will be uphill at a 7% gradient to climb 8848m or 29030ft. One famous UK hill is Box Hill which climbs 130 metres so it's just over 68 time that. Not sure about Goodwood I'm afraid!

Cheers.

There was talk of a north and south barge meet recently: this newly opened Caffine and Machine place in Warwickshire mentioned on t’other thread could be an interesting venue.

I’d love to buy the £499 210 estate just to polish those headlamps!

Thanks for this. They are good guys, I've used them a number of times. They done a 3" turbo back system for my Volvo and its still as good as the day it was fitted.
