Ok so no price, but it will be over budget, quite how far I don’t know....

Can’t be many 1 owner S124’s left - https://www.thehairpincompany.co.uk/for-sale/1990-...
Wonderful example, love it, even the colour scheme
Wow. The nicest Mercedes estate out there right now.
It does look fabulous. I'm not a private plate guy, but something short like that looks excellent on it too.
Looks wonderful, although personally not in white, for me!
White and blue. My least favourite colours for 124's. Shame as its in lovely condition.

That 124 is beautiful, but any dealer that uses "heated motor house" is a bit of a plum I think.

Yup, he didn’t return my deposit, thankfully relatively small. M

I walked the 2 miles back to the train station through Lincoln’s slum smile
If it wasn't as described, can he do that? Seems as though you have a fair reason for not completing the deal
That sucks. Id want my cashback. Is there a link to the seller somewhere so we can all know who to avoid?
If not as described I'd be talking to eBay about it - I know it will seem like sour grapes, but the car is blatantly not worth the price that the advert commands, with it looking minty and all.

Wow. The second nicest Mercedes estate out there right now.
Fixed that for you.

I've seen one of the Japanese s124's at Seymour Pope recently and that was like a new car although the charcoal cloth is not the best cloth colour In my opinion and the tinted glass all round doesn't help the looks.
The ruby 320 at MTSV looks in incredible condition too ( from the pictures).

+1. Not normally a big fan of white but that’s so clean it looks sensational. The plate really finishes it off, very classy! Bold statement coming up: I think almost any colour combination Merc offered in period looks great as long as the condition is good.

The 3.0 M104 is certainly the pick of the range, and in TE form with the lower ratio diff that will be a real sleeper. Shame the coolant warning light is on in the photos!

Been having a play with the Bornite 190e:
I'll be asking for a new headunit for my 190 for Christmas (its like being 19 again! biggrin ). Cassettes aren't cutting it anymore I'm afraid and I've just signed up for Spotify so I'm going Bluetooth compatible (get me).

I'm hoping fitting won't be a great drama but I know the rear speakers aren't working at all. Its unlikely they have both blown so I wonder if there is a wiring problem. Does anyone have any experience in this?

I'd be looking at something like a Parrot that can be wired in without removing the old radio, it just piggybacks onto the wiring behind the dash.

I've a little experience with parrot systems and haven't been particularly impressed. I'm quite happy replacing the head unit, its more the rear wiring I'm enquiring about.

It looks like a big heap of trouble and I love E39's. Doesn't look like its moved in quite a while and looking at the vehicle details it hasn't been taxed since 1st Nov 2013 and no MOT since 24th April 2014.

I am confused as he mentions that he now owns an M5 Touring but posts a picture of a 540i. Maybe he is trying to say how much it could be worth if it was done up but that is an E34 and way over priced.

Very little actually. Even the air suspension that Jaguar beards wet their pants in terror over is fairly straightforward. They are far less sophisticated than a contemporary 7 Series for example, and appear to be very robustly made. Plenty of 2nd hand parts, and even Jaguar OEM parts aren't crazy. There probably isn't a lower risk £2.5k barge this side of an LS400.

Sport spec is sometimes a bit mean but that has heated seats and screen.

I don't think I've seen an XJ with leather in that colour before, but I quite like it.

Shame about the pictures and lack of info, but the car itself looks like a potential bargain.

It's awfully nice of course, but at 15k it's stuck firmly in no man's land. Nowhere near special enough to tuck away and preserve/speculate, yet on a steep and slippery slope to becoming just like the other £2k examples out there once you press it into any form of daily action for a year or two.

Can't help feeling you'd get 75% of the experience for 10% of the price.

Yet another epic purchase, many congrats!

For maximum points (and considering the frequency of your exploits) did you also commandeer and take home the Baby Blue Mk1 Fiesta in the background, well... just because?

15 grand for a (awful white) S124 is fking insanity. No way, not ever.
