The discerning gents' V70.

I may be biased...
Nice work Woody. Threadists need a V70 T5 in their lives.

Great work, any more detail? Has it got velour seats?

Thanks chaps! I did rather fancy the little Fiesta, but I don't have pockets that are Ford deep.

It's a manual in CD spec with black leather with in-op heated seats and non-functioning cruise. The lack of spoiler really sold it to me for the added sleeper points. It's done 128k miles and aside from the current owner who bought it to save it being scrapped belonged to the previous owners for 14 years. The MOT history is squeaky clean.

It's a London car and it looks it. There is no corner untouched, but that's all part of the charm. Drives great aside from something that rattles over larger bumps, it's super smooth and plenty quick.

It really ought not to be in this thread since it cost me just £420.

What are the pitfalls with that generation of V70? Did they have the chocolate autos like the curvier version which followed it?

Yes that man. Yes. Pay attention, class, that’s how to do it.

I’ve just spent that on a single shock absorber. That was four days ago and I still feel sick.

Fantastic work. I've never owned a Volvo, but my mate has had several - we've done some pretty long journey's in V70s (mainly to go and buy old Merc's) and they always impress.

You will enjoy incredible value motoring in great comfort!

For god sake someone buy this before I have to!

There's a silver Torslanda that I see in town quite frequently, the driver also looks suitably 90s in attire - it's quite an image.

Yup, he didn’t return my deposit, thankfully relatively small. M

I walked the 2 miles back to the train station through Lincoln’s slum smile
If it wasn't as described, can he do that? Seems as though you have a fair reason for not completing the deal
That sucks. Id want my cashback. Is there a link to the seller somewhere so we can all know who to avoid?
Probably should have known better
Really should have known better
Sucks really

Another duff car
Unbelievably misleading advert
Too much BS
Open mouthed at their attitude
Silly me

Likely to be a ringer
I should have followed my instinct
No way Id buy off them
Could not have been worse
Oh the woe!
Lots of hassle
Never again

A couple of rattles on my '97 V70 turned out to be coming from the sunroof mechanism.

The first one quietened down a lot after the application of some WD40 to the rails.
But the second rattle's arrival coincided with the failure of the sunroof visor to retract a couple of inches when the tilt function is operated, so something in there has broken or is disconnected.

There is something very appealing about the pure utility of a 240 and in Torslanda spec they are at the pinnacle of the design.

Prices do seem quite ‘firm’ these days but I’m guessing there’s a bit of a cult following.
