Mercedes and Porsche loved those 'everything in one colour interiors. Porsche still do. Not convinced, myself.

I never knew that even the door-seals were co-ordinated, that may just be a step too far, I don’t actually perceive it to be beneficial vs. plain black ones, never mind the potential hassle of ordering a replacement once in the hands of a thread denizen.

Also, what’s up with the shiny, reflective dash? That would drive me insane at night, I suspect.

Apart from that, it’s lovely. I’ve said it before, but will say again, I’m *never buying another black interior car.

* obviously if something like an SM came up for 50p, I’d not decline, but for a run of the mill car, it’s not happening. I have vague plans to do something on the SL too, to get rid of the ‘slip-on’ grey, but that’s for another time.
—————————————————————————————————————————
More importantly: It’s now 1 week to Christmas - no mention of the Southern Barge Meet yet?

Please also consider signing up to the Northern meet (if you haven’t already given an excuse) if you’d like to spend a couple of hours with a weirdo in a car park (& R129SL too). laugh

That red interior reminds me of Play Doh.

Gopp-Tastic for me, I'm afraid.

As I mentioned a few pages back, I'll be at the Northern Meet if/when my sibling cancels the Xmas visiting arrangements, as they are prone to do with eye-rolling predictability.

Unless, of course, I'm still in a diabetic coma from eating too many Tom Kerridges Christmas Carrots, gently simmered in an obscene amount of butter and sugar for that full-on Christmas Coronary Thrombosis (at worst) or lifelong Type 2 diabetes (runner up).

Love the SVX, though it's a shame they are all autos. Looked at one once, but I seem to recall finding the driving position quite odd. I got a Bitter SC instead as the SVX was too sensible.
"How about an SVX?"

"Bit common"
That reminds me, I also came very close to (but chickened out of) buying a Bristol Brigand off a man in Kent whose daily driver was an SVX.

They are indeed. I can't stand oppressive coal-black interiors, especially with the high waistlines, minimal glasshouse, and privacy tints of modern designs.

This is a proper interior

Those run out E38 interiors were lovely. Green or blue carpets and dash top roll with parchment (what is the correct name? I forget) upholstery and contrasting piping.

Champagne leather; simply gorgeous.

I appreciate them trying, but that is grim.

I prefer a light interior, but I tend to ruin them. Black hides scuffs and dirt better.

They certainly are. The interior was a driving factor in the purchase of my XK (black leather dash/top of door cards/carpets, Ivory everything else with Walnut inserts) and the Rover that I've owned for the past thirteen years has a beige interior... with walnut inserts... ummm... bit of a pattern forming there, I'll have to keep an eye on that, albeit neither are barges but I think the interiors would feel a whole lot smaller and more claustrophobic in black than they otherwise do.

Another fan of the light interior here - coal hole is definitely not for me.

Light leather + sunroof is a brilliant combo imho.

Had a D2 A8 with a cream interior, and often had small kids in the back, that could turn a car into a garbage tip in 5 seconds flat. Light interior held up really well. Much prefer it to the darker interiors.

The Alfa interior look just right. 1 x Quatrifoglio in red, with that interior please Santa, been good etc.

OH is stil car hunting, her only criteria is a light interior, plus a sunroof and a decent cup holder. Anything else is unimportant.

As the designated member of the family who knows a bit about cars, I though it would be an easy task. Alas no. Flat black with shimmer and sparkle garnish seem to be the only options in the small-to-medium-new-car sector.

We went to a World Cup footie party back in the summer where the 6yo had his face painted in a suitably partisan style. He fell asleep on the way home, nuzzled into the pristine cream leather in the Lexus and left a rubber stamp of half an England flag on the rear bolster.

Maybe black is the way forward after all?

All true, and maybe ex airport run, but still seems like a good price for a lot of motor?

Hmm, I think you'll probably find a nicer one for the money.

I e-shopped for a GS450h quite a lot last year, and I thought the general standard of car and seller seemed pretty high for the most part.

I think they're pretty fantastic cars, but they're at the point in their lives now where I expect they're pretty hard to sell, and generally being sold by the type of chap who can take a bid in the balls on the chin if they like you (!) so haggle nicely, but haggle hard.

I think the problem is not the light interiors, it was our decision to have progeny. smile

I am still cursing my youngest, entire cup of hot chocolate, all over the back of the wife's car, seats, carpets and every nook and cranny it could run into. Even had it sloshing around. Dark thoughts of "putting up for adoption" did cross my mind, for a brief second!

Around £1500 too expensive I would say. There are better cars out there at similar money, including this one with full Lexus history and almost 100k miles less. And (Hooray!) a light interior, even if it is slip-on grey.

Marvellous cars, but I don't ever recall a threadist owning an "h"?

In completely different news, I have a friend who has been asked to sell a smart looking 54 plate (pre-ugly glasses) 1 doctor owner navy blue manual Saab 9-5 aero estate with 94,000 mile, full history and no obvious rust.

If I hadn’t just fallen for the Subaru I would have struggled not to be interested.

My question to the collective wisdom of this rather unique group...... how much should he be asking for it?

Edited by Mr Micawber on Tuesday 4th December 19:37
I've just bought something almost identical for £1990, but there are a few minor things broken, like parking sensors and passenger heated seat.

As a seller, trawling the sold prices on ebay is probably a depressing prospect – they routinely fetch less than a grand. I think the best your friend could do is pitch it direct to enthusiasts here or on the UKsaabs forum.

I know it's miserable, and I don't like being negative on this thread... But I can't really see the point in the "h" outside a congestion charging zone.

The 300 is a fine steer, significantly cheaper (certainly enough to offset a hell of a lot of fuel), and more widely available. The 430 has a good slab more poke, although rare. The 450 isn't that much quicker, is heavier, and much more expensive.

ETA: A quick browse on retrorides and I see our bathroom-suite-green 190 has resurfaced at a tidy markup from its last price - £1350!
