I used to use a gym in Torquay, where I was "stationed" for a 12 month period. The lass that ran the gym was called Tanya Hyde.

That is all.

Afternoon gentlemen
After another fruitless morning of searching and looking ( a search that has been in progress since before Christmas) I’ve still been unable to find a vehicle that will allow me to join your esteemed ranks.
I’m currently restoring a property and am in need of a large estate that can carry 4 adults plus luggage tools and various sundries , large distances ( I’m in Thurrock Essex the property in County Mayo Eire) in some comfort at reasonable speed.
My current search is for E class mercs, 5 series BMW’s or (wife’s pick) an xc90, in petrol or pre-DPF diesel, although I’m open to alternatives.
Budget is £4K
Although this not an inconsequential sum (to me at least) I’m realistic enough to know that this doesn’t buy a great deal these days so have set my expectations low only to find that the offerings I’ve looked at fail to even match those meagre levels.
Thus far all I’ve found are overpriced , badly maintained, poorly presented, poorly/ misleadingly/fraudulently described.
TBH I’m finding this process very taxing but I’m sure the car I’m after is out there ......somewhere
Therefore I’m appealing to you esteemed gentlemen if you’re aware of a vehicle that fits my criteria I’d be very grateful if you could point me in its direction
My thanks in advance
Ron
Id say Skoda Superb Estate maybe something like this?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Being 6ft 4 Myself I know I can sit in the front comfortably and with the seat in that position I can sit behind it in the back comfortably too, slightly above your budget but it seems to tick all the other boxes you need?

Something like this will probably be my next family car in a few years as my kids get bigger and I do my upmost to avoid having to bu a people carrier
Would sir consider a Mercedes R Class?

745i news.

Needed to head to Farnborough for a meeting today, which meant a god awful early start, in bloody chilly conditions. Jumped in the car expecting the worst... and it's still driving perfectly, didn't miss a beat the whole way down.

I can also recommend the Superb, though if you're going full barge then surely the 3.6 V6 4x4 with DSG is one to pick. I've got one and it is rather excellent.

I had a look at these previously, they appear to be cavernous but likely to have been Taxis. I expect they wear their miles well so a risk of clocking like the E-Class? It also looks like they like a drink and firmly in the £540 per year tax bracket. I bet the kids would appreciate their own seats though!

Petrol, shirley, as I suggested a couple of pages ago. Highly unlikely to have been a taxi. Other issues remain, mind smile

What on earth are those alloys doing on that car? And the interior is very bland.

Lot of car for the money though. Literally.

In my defence when I suggested the 1.8 TSI or whatever non barge engine it is, I simply couldn't find a full barge spec Superb as an estate anywhere near the OP's budget, I absolutely agree that one should buy the 3.6 V6 over a 1.8 on principle alone. smile

An Autotrader selection.

Buy the trio for the price of a new Fiesta.
I think if you bought the Merc or BMW and turned up in the works car park with it, no-one would believe you'd spent less than 5 bags.

That Merc looks especially good for the mileage, although there's no good shots of the driver's seat.

My W221 has done almost exactly the same miles and the drivers seat is pretty much unmarked. Very solid interiors, esp. compared to W220, in my humble.

I'm seriously considering one for the next family wagon. I believe there is quite a lot more legroom and space in a LWB version. Luckily all the R63 AMG versions are LWB, so that helps with finding one... wink

This was the best option I could find a couple of days ago:

Plenty of space for a hound box, and a load of other family crap:
