Love this. Has hints of land cruiser 70 about it which is probably my favourist off roader.

A 5 door version would romp out of the showroom. Seems like the kind of car you would buy new and keep forever

I concur, it'd give people in the market for a small SUV something to consider.

I don't think I've seen such a positive reception for a new motah, apart from the inevitable dimwitted comments about it being styled like a G-Wagen.

I need to build an argument for getting one.

1 I don't need one.
2 I have enough cars..
3 I have a shiny JLR 4 x4 already.
4 I don't live in the countrysde.
5 I don't do green Laning as a hobby.

So far I've come up with...

Sell the shuny JLR 4x4 and buy an F-Type.
Buy the Suzuki.

However its a bit small for carrying stuff which is the very weak justification for having the shiny JLR 4x4.

I've kept my MGF out of this so far. But...

Sell the MGF and he shiny JLR 4x4
Buy an F-Type convertible.
Buy the Suzuki
Buy some old Volvo with a T5 engine.

Obviously you need a backup vehicle for when the shiny 4x4 breaks down wink Though you might need two if you don't want to put too many miles on the 1st one hehe

If they made a 5 door version like this I'd buy one on release day. They are awesome.

In reality, I can't see many urban school mums and pensioners wanting a proper off roader in favour of a soft roader for their town, school and supermarket duties. Volcano climbing ability doesn't feature that highly on their list of priorities, even if the image does.

Which makes it all the more appealing in my eyes.

It won't be selling in Qashqai numbers for sure, but for those who want go rather than show it is a perfect unpretentious riposte to the bigger-is-better offerings from many of the mainstream manufacturers. I for sure will be placing an order. If they later announce a 5-door then I may even swap the Subaru for another.

So long as its not overpriced we will have one, the success of Dacia at this price point is really good news for Suzuki. Loving the boxy arched one too cloud9
The one without black arches is Japan only anyway, according to this;

I'm sure that some people will want it, but you'd need to be pretty keen to own one over an SUV or alternative cheap off roader if you are living in most places in Britain. A small van with seats abd M&S tyres would be more useful more often for most people.

No one was more surprised than Suzuki when the SJ started selling in huge numbers and to people who had no intention of taking it off-road.
So I think this is good enough to also sell on looks alone. The only obstacle I can see is that it doesn't have the 'right badge'.

Wildcat, don't underestimate the carrying capacity of a 3-door with flat fold seats. If your carrying doesn't require rear passengers then this kind of configuration has a lot of scope. I have a Suzuki Ignis Sport and have transported a double bed with mattress and lawnmower (together) and on other occasions livestock and parts for much larger Mercedes. The new Jimny will be my next workhorse with the Iggy Sport eventually dies.

This looks great, I really like what Suzuki are doing at the moment. I just wish the new Swift Sport was around the £15k mark.

Its not often, but we do have a need to carry people. That said, my wife's 85 year old grandfather insisted on folding himself up to use the fold down rear seats in the Disco Sport describing it as perfectly comfortable.
