Did she actually read the note before screwing it up? Personally I don't think there's any harm in what you did, chances are being a female she isn't even aware that her tyres are bald or that it's even a problem as car maintainance is not something that is usually high up on a woman's list of priorities. With all the hot dry weather of recent she may not of even noticed but if she suddenly comes across a heavy downpour she will be in a world of trouble.

Hopefully she took notice and who knows, you might just have prevented an accident.

Your saying you don't think its an odd way to start your way onto a forum, join up apparently to tell us someone has bald tyres.
I know that PH has evolved over the years, but posting a motoring related topic on a motoring related forum to express exasperation at non motoring interested member of public's lack of motoring maintenance ... it's not that far out there on the oddness scale.

I don't believe it!!! shes back again with her bald tyres. I left another note saying that she has a social obligation to safeguard other road users and pedestrians from injury or even death. I said in the note that I have reported her to the police but I haven't because I wouldn't know where to go to report her or at least I don't want to be a grass. What do I do now? Also, the whole point of forums is to discuss this kind of things so the guy who finds it strange that I started on the forum to talk about bald tyres??? Is this what forums are for? and where do I start on a forum if not with a genuine question regarding safety and responsibility. Thanks for the support matey jagnet!!!!!

Apparently nurses are so badly paid they're using food banks. Perhaps there's a local tyre bank you could refer her to?

I don’t think there is much you can do now. You’ve let her know they are illegal but the responsibility lies with her to replace them.

Were they actually dangerous given the lack of rain in many parts of the country? Did you test their dry grip vs new tyres before leaving the note?
I didn't know slicks were allowed in dry weather .

Who knew ?....silly

AFAIK ,it's not possible to stop for a 2.5 second pitstop for "wets" if it rains when you're out n about on the A something.

Yea that's funny!! make a joke about food banks and tyre banks. This is not a laughing matter!! This nurse is driving a death trap and could wipe out a whole family in one go. I just pray its not someone I know who might get hurt and she would end up with seven years for driving a vehicle in the condition its in....

If you're so concerned about her killing someone in her death trap go to the police .

She may not be as unconcerned as first appears and could well be intending to change them but can't until pay day. She may feel as though she has no choice but to use the car in the meantime in order to get to work and additional notes on the windscreen won't change that.

For many people tyres are a distress purchase that suddenly comes up as they pay no regard to their tyres from month to month.

You've made her aware if she wasn't before; it's up to her what she does now. If she still chooses to run around on bald tyres then the first rain after this long dry spell may well force the issue for her.

I was in my house and squeal and a loud bang outside.
I went out outside to see a Peugeot 306 on the kerb . Walking over I noticed the front tyres weren't just bald they were down to netting. The guy was already out, looking confused.
He didn't understand why his car went out of control. I told him his were way beyond worn.
Couldn't believe this guy could be so stupid. Told him to get some tyres or he should get off the road before he killed somebody.
Looking back should've reported him to the Police

Classic Swad, she'll be that busy dealing with all the mamba heads she won't have time to get her tyres sorted.

She's probably just going to let it ride until the MOT, as I think most non-car people do.

There is actually some (rather backwards) logic to this..... If your MOT test centre has a habit of finding extras to fail it on, then giving them something to fail it for, might actually work out cheaper in the long run as they'll fail the tyres and won't start adding shocks, brakes, exhaust and various bulbs.

considering her profession is to heal people I would hope she has a conscience which is pricked when she steps into her car in the morning.
Nurses are a funny bunch. They're supposed to be all healing and nice but some of the nurses I've met recently have been amongst the most judgemental and unsympathetic people I've ever had the misfortune to talk to. Closed minded and with a massive chip on their shoulder about their awful wages leading to an absolute lack of solidarity for other workers in a bad situation. They also seem to really love authority a little too much. I guess it takes a certain type of person.
