First post so - evening all smile This is my 1978 Daimler Double-Six V12, it certainly ticks all the boxes for me and is a great way to travel. Juicy of course, but worth it.

Nice colour combination smile
As your coupe is a Daimler version, what is the different to a Jaguar spec v12?

Different grilles on the outside and inside they have black upper door trims whereas the Jag is the same colour as the interior. Also have a different number of pleats on the seats. They are not really that different at all. Badge engineering at its finest

I knew the Daimler had the scalloped grill and boot plinth but Technically no change in spec other than subtle cosmetics? I must admit I hadn’t even noticed the different amount of pleats in the seats lol

Craig as you seem to know your stuff, is an Aston db7 rear axle the same as the late xjs?

No idea. Are you considering changing yours so that you have outboard brakes?

Why would you want to do that? Yes it makes changing pads and discs easier but everything else is a disadvantage and how often do you need to change pads and discs

The diff leaks oil and those rear discs are so close they do get contaminated and then rear braking is reduced. The rear axle is coming off my car soon so a good time to do an axle change if I can find something affordable

Be mindful how changing it will change the unsprung weight and impact on the handling.

Always loved these, especially the one Steed drove in the New Avengers, with flared arches. I think that car was sold at auction in the last 2-3 years in need of restoration. Icon.

It was sold at auction for around 60k something and then put in for restoration although it’s all a bit in limbo at the moment as the restorer has gone bust

Have to admit I like this particular colour combo, but then it takes all sorts. I keep looking at the front seats wondering if they'll squeeze into my 'Radfordesque' Mini project, I saw a Mk3 Cooper S with XJS seats in many years ago but the Daimler seats look more on the plump side.
My coupe front seats are for sale if you want them although they do need a rebuild and recover
Thanks Craig - could you measure the width of them for me? If I do have them off you I'll probably have to modify the subframes to make them fit the Mini's crossmember.
P5BNij I have finally got round to this having been to the trimmers this morning and at the widest point on the seat base and seat back they are 56cm. If you want them you can have them for beer tokens as long as you arrange to get them from the trimmers in Hastings. Let me know
