The Fiesta in that spec is £21,358 on DTD. A saving of £3,156.

Still can't work out the justification for a test against a car that is no longer available, when other were discounted for odd reasons..

Why isn’t the Toybota referred to as the Yaris SatNav, I just can’t help but see GaRMiN every time I see an article on them....

Agreed. Seems odd.

Plus i think the headline with the Fiesta ST range is that you can get a brand new ST-1 for £16,475 at DTD, not the list price of the fully optioned ST-3.....

I'm the same - I can't help but think its a special edition which includes a sat nav.

Where is this floundering Focus RS!?
I wondered this too.

The RS sold really well, won loads of group tests and is generally regarding as one of the best hot hatches about. How is it floundering?

a st sat nav that requires updates every couple of months otherwise it will shut down and when you do carry out the updates it shuts down anyway.

Tongue in cheek 'damp squib' reference?
Yeah, ever so slightly boxedin It just seemed that the Focus was declared 'Best Thing Everrrrrr' after the launch after skidding around a car park, then a bit less impressive once in the UK. Personally preferred both Civic Type Rs to the Focus.

I cant imagine that there are many people out there who buy a 25k fiesta or yaris to do hill climbs or regular track days. Surely these are purchased in the main as fun daily drivers? the article should focus more on what they are like to live with as a daily driver.

I’d suggest the nearest competitor to the Yaris is the Abarth 695 Biposto 960kg 190bhp LSD optional dog ring box and datalogger and optional Perspex Windows. Although starting at £30k and max price about £50k there’s certainly a lot of better cars but in that segment of small hatches it’s got to be close to the top.

I’m also surprised that Pistonheads decided to list lots of cars except the abarth 595. Like the fiesta it’s available in 3 different tunes including an optional mechanical LSD. The Competizione starts at £20,890 which gets you 180bhp in something that weighs 1060kg.

It may not be the best car in that segment but to not even list it seems a bit of an oversight.

And I’d take the Yaris over the Fiesta. I finally saw one in the flesh in Malmedy, Belgium last week. Looked great.
The 595 is just full of difficult to define soul, it might be cr*p in some respects but it's top fun

What’s the discounted cost of the ST, £25k seems like a whole heap of cash when at launch a nicely spec’d Focus RS was circa £32k!?!
And yet on another thread, people thought a basic spec £100,000 M5 was good value !

On Britain's give and take back roads, with a decent driver at the helm, this little Fiesta will be welded to the M5's tail.

But not too unreasonable for a Lotus hatchback.

Yeah that's all well and good, but what if I want no track ability? What hot hatch would I buy for that?

I thought the ST would be a hoot when I saw the specs 6 months back, but I should've know better. The 3 cylinder engines sound nice, and are far smoother and more interesting than the bland 4 cylinder turbos we've been dogged by for the last 10 years, but they're all attached to enormous baggy flywheels. You can stamp on the throttle of most of these cars and the revs don't rise more than a couple of hundred - it's pathetic.

It's a shame the petrol engine is going out with a whimper. While I'll miss changing gears for sure once electric power takes over, I won't miss the much else about the last 10 years of rubbish.

I should probably get one of the last proper clios or civics before the next generation bump the prices... Such a shame.

And on yet another thread many people thought a 1.8 million quid modded 911 was the best thing ever - interesting concepts on value for money
