I can see why that must annoy you so much, and especially so that the parents of children use a big car to carry kids around in (I'm being sarcastic by the way, just in case). Must be so annoying! I get annoyed by things, but someone else driving in their own car which they like isn't one of them. Sounds like petty to be honest.

As a car enthusiast I appreciate that people have different tastes, and if a manufacturer has produced something which adheres to all the relevant laws and regulations then why shouldn't people buy them.
I share those sentiments and I am a bit puzzled at the constant negativity on PH. I don't really know where it comes from as it seems directed at the people as much as at the cars themselves.

It's very bizarre behaviour. It's like someone getting ANNOYED about someone wearing clothes that they didn't like, or having a phone or a watch that they don't like. Just because they don't like it, doesn't mean someone else shouldn't.

I'm really baffled about the anger and hatred towards them. Some claim they "block" the roads up because they're bigger than an arctic truck, or that they're all driven by [insert terrible PH cliche of your choice] etc etc. Really strange, irrational behaviour.

Cars have long been fast enough, comfortable enough, big enough, convenient enough, reliable enough and generally fit for purpose.

For use on the roads of the UK, there is really little to add, other than removing the need for an often irrational driver to make motorways more efficient.

What we see now is attempts to generate new niches and to differentiate and offer something to covar all possible tastes (whilst also offering broadly the same as the competition), which do not always maintain the previous standards of comfort/utility etc. , but do incorporate a lot of visible shiny bits and baubles, with engineering to get around fundamental problems of some of the fashionable features.

I've liked cars since I was a boy, but most things I see now, are a bit "so-what?".

I enjoy driving, but I'm less and less interested in the cars themselves.

Another day, another Porsche hatred thread.

Whilst I'm no fan of SUVs it's quite extraordinary how many posters here on PH seem to be in a complete tailspin over the brand as a whole.

Why is Porsche so determined to make all their cars look awful?
Yes, the 981 Boxster, 997 Turbo, 991 911R, 928 GTS, 959 and so on are such notorious eyesores.
There's an element of truth what you say there even though your being sarcastic, in the 80s when 911's started appearing everywhere no one said that car looks great but what they would say was "that little thing does 150mph". It's always been the performance of the Porsche rather than the looks. Probably the best looking car they've made was an early model Boxster in dark blue.
Personally I think an early Boxster looks horrible. A 993 or 997 however look lovely.

+1

Nearly always from empty garagers who rarely actually engage in any conversation about cars they actually enjoy or appreciate.

Wish they'd gone the other way and come up with a stretched 7 seater version.. options in this segment are limited.
Agreed - don’t see the point of this. I always felt the Macan was the ‘coupe’ version of the Cayenne.
Not really, I see it this way?

Macan = X3 and Q5
Cayenne = X5 and Q7
This = X6 and new Q8
Given the more sloping roof line and limited rear space of the of the Macan and Q5, the X4 is probably closer in terms of similarity than the X3.

From an engineering pov, if it's got 500+ hp and not limited to 155, chances are it would have 170+ potential on autobahn. The spoiler might well be a useful addition that case...

Isn't the fixed upper spoiler designed to take air flow away from the area where the active wing is?

Anyway, I'm sure the extra wing is fulfilling perfectly the role Porsche intended it to.

Just reaffirms my view that Porsche really can’t design a bigger car to look good - the Cayenne and Panamera are also dire.

Quite. It will really look the part whilst cruising about for a parking space at the Trafford Centre.

Imho I don't think Porsche have ever made a car that looks lovely leave the 'look lovely' bit to a Ferrari F355.

Which just goes to show how subjective car design is. I think the F355 is one of the least attractive Ferraris.

Having a closer look, the roof spoiler appears to be a wing, that also helps keep air attached down the screen, so it'd reach the new wing and actually do something.

Not 100% certain though, as the photos aren't detailed enough.

Why are Porsche not bankrupt?

All of their cars are ugly have have been for the last 50+ yrs.

They are not only ugly but extremely repulsive especially the non GT 911s, boxsters and caymans.

I don't care if you buyers think they have some sort of prestige to their badge. The cars look cheap and boring like all range rovers.

They'll "sell" well but what a stupid pointless car.

I'd much rather have a Panamera.

One would hazard an educated guess and say that, being a business, they aim to make money idea
