jesus, fair play for racing in a £52m car!
At last year's Bernina hill climb it was racing in the snow.

It's not truly a 'proper' Ferrari though.

There's a really interesting history behind it and a dispute between Enzo and Count Giovanni Volpi, owner of the Scuderia Serenissima racing team.

Enzo was pissed because Volpi had hired a number of Ferrari engineers including Bizzarini so he refused to sell him a GTO to race against him (can't imagine the Old Man doing that at all can we!).

Anyway, they got hold of a 205 GT SWB (Ch No 2819 GT) and created this 'thing' from it with Bizzarini using his knowledge of the GTO (having been involved in that).

The Breadvan is lighter, lower and more powerful than it's GTO cousins and it monstered them on its first outing against them until it popped a driveshaft.

So, whilst it's 'technically' a Ferrari it was never ever EVER approved by Enzo.

A looker it ain't. Sounds GLORIOUS though

The silver 'GTO' that got clouted from behind is a recently-built replica, based on the chassis and running gear of a more common model. As was the 'Course Car' in the colours of Maranello Concessionaires, driven by His Grace himself...
That’s disappointing to hear. I was always under the impression that FOS/Revival didn’t allow replicas. That everything you saw was the real deal. Hence the lightweight E-Type continuations not being allowed there.

Sort of takes the shine off a little bit for me, knowing that....

...and also brings into question their marketing tagline of "the most expensive race"...

Without getting into a philosophical discussion on what's 'real' and what's not, the point is that there were a number of cars taking part in the Revival that are essentially doppelgangers, whilst The Real Thing is safely tucked up at home in the garage of the (same) owner...

I've seen this car race many times and whilst you never grow to love its looks you never tire of hearing what a Maranello V12 does best. And the detail is beguiling - THAT steering wheel and gearlever, the coat of arms on the rear reading 'Scuderia SSS Reppublica di Venezia ' and , for once , a justified four exhausts , not some faux nonsense (yes you Fiat Abarth 124 Spider , and the rest )
