Ruined by every man and his dog putting reps on their standard M3's or even just any BMW.
Hi does that 'ruin' a wheel? FFS, there is some utter tosh peddled on here!
It's an opinion, calm the fk down.

They're ruined IMO because they make seeing a CSL less special and seeing those great wheels less special. Familiarity breeds contempt.

I used to absolutely love these wheels from the B7 RS4:

They fit the car perfectly and the car looks great in general.

Then Audi had them as an S-Line trim option for basically every car and you saw them on nearly every Audi around and they became much less special and I stopped liking them anywhere near as much.

The fact that the default mods (alongside the awful trend of blacked out kidney grilles and smoked front lights) done to an E46 M3 are always CSL wheels (rep or otherwise) and a CSL style front bumper ruin both the original car and make seeing an actual CSL less of a nice, unexpected thing. Similarly they're used as a mod on almost every other BMW much like the B7 wheels are on almost every other Audi so it's not even a unique personalisation to your own car, it's just following a different herd of sheep.

Get it now?

Both suit the cars, but certainly one of them has rot issues, or something similar.

Very nice!

Is that one of the very last 1966 king an link pins? I had a 65 on a C plate that I kick myself for selling last year.

Cheers - No this is on Balljoints (adjustable front beam), last king pins we're in 65 I'm pretty sure, maybe wrong.

Got a thread here for it in readers rides if your interested: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=17...

I’m not particularly a fan of Beetles, but that’s really nice. I think I might have seen it at the Supernats in the early Nineties when Neil M had it. Good that you’ve resisted the temptation to go down the Cal/Dubster route with it smile

Wow yes that's cool, yes Neil M is in the history file I have, I would of been about 5 years old then!!!

Yeah it was low a while back but got sick of it TBH, I get more genuine comments now it's looking more OEM.

Anyway, we have gone off topic sorry posters smile steel wheels rock that is all!

I don't like wheels that are too fussy - 5 spokes are enough.

Unless you're you own a McMerc in which case your ($25k!!) wheels are 'handed' cool

These wheels are the ones that people remember from the SLR and appeared in virtually all of the promotional pictures but they were actually an optional extra.

The standard ones were the some of the blandest 5 spokes I have ever seen, I assume, chosen deliberately to force you to upgrade.

I always liked the 18" Alfa multispokes on a GT we had years ago:

(library picture)

And the Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 on my GP (which I was forced to buy as the original wheels didn't fit over the new AP brakes I foolishly purchased on a whim!)

Always thought the Team Dynamics looked a bit naff. They were launched after, and clearly took inspiration from, the OZ Superturismo and Superleggera. But the spokes don't reach out as far, and as an imitation design I guess I've never liked them for that reason.

Anyway, some cracking choices in here!

IMO that needs either a smaller wheel and chunkier tyre, or a much chunkier tyre. Doesn't really suit it.

Those were actually aftermarket BBS wheels that VW used for the dune. I used to sell them back in the glory days of BBS.

My childhood dream car, in the right colour (I wouldn't have the stripe though). Those wheels.
