There used to be a whole heap of people and knowledge around these parts, the 911uk forum doesn't seem too populated. Is there any other forums that should be a must visit?

Rennlist I used to be a member of, but I don't recall my log in and I did feel it was very USA-centric.

We don't see the same old faces on track these days (or fewer anyway), has the investor market decimated the enthusiast one?

I’m sure they are still around just tired of the type of perpetual armchair experts like Porsche911R who offer little unless you count volume of posts and regurgitated snippets without any real experience and are symptomatic of putting people off posting.

My friend, you may be in the minority but you and people like you are the reason that Porsche build these cars.

No just giving you a little spoonful of your own medicine that you serve up to all and sundry on here. Not so nice when the shoes on the other foot.

If you won’t share why you think you have an issue with your GT3’s handling on track I’m loathed to jump in a car with you.

I think you are right..these cars become have become collectables and worth too much money for people to thrash around a track..with interest rates at rock bottom levels people have parked cash in all assets and cars have become one of them..no CGT either ..

Well, if anyone else fancies dragging something on a limited mileage policy out of it's carcoon we have a spare place at Spa on the 8th of November (brave I know!).

We bought it on OpenTrack's boxing day sale so it is considerably under the £225 price of the day-cheap enough to bin off if the weather turns out to be pants.

Absolutely there are still a few enthusiasts floating about, but a lot of those I know and do the odd track day don't bother posting much on forums any more for the reasons summed up above. I still post very occasionally, but the threads always seem to get ugly and you seldom get any sort of positive response when you do make the effort to share your knowledge/experience.

Also a few of my past 964 RS owning mates when across to GT4's when their cars became too precious/valuable to nail on the track. I guess the GT4 has become a more accessible car for track use, than the GT3/RS as they have increased in price and size.

I think the average value of the GT cars pushing on above £100k is one element of the issue; it's much more difficult and costly to get European track day insurance one you move into six figures.

There are still plenty of GT cars - all ages and values - out there, being tracked, both at home and in Europe.

Although there was a time when CGT might have been understood as 980 not a tax liability, the RS and GT cars do get out from time to time. PCGB and RS days are generally well attended, 100+ cars at Silverstone this July. That said it is depressing to see so many cars that are not available to most people to order new at OPC appearing with low miles, deviated stitching, and a hefty mark up in the classifieds.

I became totally disillusioned when at every meet, the discussions became about money and appreciation and not about the cars and driving them. Same on here. So I hardly post anymore.

I was recently told there is a 'closed' GT forum, but it's by invitation only.

Needless to say..... tumbleweed

Im still about, still thrash my cars about, still compete, still tracking my rsr, PH is a very differant place now,the tedious school yard slagging and rude responses is what put the other enthusiasts off posting on here any more.
If you look at the number of posts of two of the PH experts ,incredible how they have time to work!,but pretty much most of there posts end up with them being rude to some one!

Its like you almost loose credability now ,being a poster on PH now,a real shame.
Off hillclimbing for the weekend,a picture to remind us what it should only be about, having fun with cars.

We need to reverse this so enthusiasts like you need to post more! beer

I’m a new owner (6 weeks) but have already done 2,500 happy miles in mine. No track day yet but am certainly looking forward to it.
